From the PC...lane stated regarding wearing suits and ties during stadium walk in

"Imagine a team with the discipline and workmanship on the field of Saban's Alabama, but with the swagger off the field and on the sidelines of Hollywood (USC during Pete Carroll era)....that would be pretty cool."

Found this interesting, with everyone saying how much he's taken from Saban, he's still got that Reggie bush/Matt leinart team in his head.

Honestly sounds a lot like 80s Miami to me.

I was with you until here. That’s not the kind of swag that wins championships in 2026. Those dudes didn’t have the discipline component Lane mentioned.

you're lying to yourself if you don't think USC attitude circa 2003 didn't get them any recruits. I don't think it's a generational thing.

I also think that attitude gives you an edge in games, if you have the talent to back it up. 2019 burrow team had it. 2011 LSU had it.

I didn't say that attitude was useless in previous generations, only saying it is required with this generation. The younger generations' favorite term is "aura"

fair enough. I was a toddler so I was reaching a bit.

I just find it interesting that he's thought about that combination in mentality to the point he felt it was worthy to be brought up. You can tell he has a goal in mind for the culture/mindset of the program.

He will be a Jimmy Johnson type. He will win a natty, maybe more, and have us in the hunt every year for the next 3-5 years before he moves on.

Enjoy the ride

Don't think LSU fans will be surprised to see him leave as long as he brings us a Natty. I think he wants at least 2 before he leaves so he can say he did more than Saban.

If he wins 2 he can do whatever he wants. That would make him the GOAT coach here

Lane is Saban’s “Im sorry” to LSU.

Saban taught Lane, showed him the process, and then told his arse to get to Baton Rouge.

Programs in good hands.

He is always talking about the swag/aura of lsu and it being one of the main reasons he came here. Dude is extremely smart and thinks about every little detail.

That is exemplified by the basketball goals.

We are 100% business in between the lines.

There is literally zero time to celebrate a 4 yard run or 6 yard completion. The offense is already lined up for the next play.

But as soon as the goal is accomplished and we are off the field. Celebrate and who cares if the other team thinks it’s not “classy”

...and go where?

NFL? ...im sure Saban will tell him "Dont make the same mistake I made" and his personality is not cut for the NFL. Owners hold the power and the GM/Salary cap controls his personnel.

There's not another CFB job that can offer more resources than LSU. He has full autonomy at LSU, Verge is tied to his contract, and he has the Governor in his back pocket.

I honestly think he ends his coaching career here.

He’s already coached in the NFL. He understands the different context and how that dynamic isn’t nearly as cool as NFLSU
