I think he could 7 maybe 8 games with him but that is not the goal.

If MVB stays here he will be a back up and that is it. He is too limited and too inconsistent to be anything else at this level.

With a competent oline and elite RB yes maybe. Van Buren would have to run alot to offset his inaccuracy it's too spuratic to improve that much. Low % throws and a soli option run game maybe a playoff offense

How many starts has MVB had?

I think he is far from his ceiling. A good coach can get more out of him. The bowl game was a small jump for him.

A fully developed MVB is probably still pretty mediocre

If he wants to stay as a back up, sure. But why are people advocating when we’ll almost never able to hand pick anyone we want out of the portal?

The attachments some of you have to players on a team that finished 7-6 is weird

I’d let LK make the call

But, if I’m betting right now, I get your point

He was definitely better in the UH game than the OU game. But I notice the same thing that he actually seems to throw better on the run/rolling out that he does from the pocket. Perhaps, his vision of the field is better or cutting the field in half improves his decision making. I was pleasantly surprised at his play in the game. But Houston is NOT really that good of a team. This game could easily have gone the other way...for one thing the refs need to study up on what an eligible receiver is. I believe Sharp can instruct them on that.

Most of the fans are too emotional but I said a few weeks back on this board that Kiffin could develop Van Buren and we could win with him.

Lombardi couldn't win with Van Buren. Anthony Jennings would win more games than fricking Van Buren. Van Buren is a dog shite QB. Lane would win a natty with Josh Booty.

win what?

If Van Buren is the starter for more than a game or so next year, something went very wrong.

Van Buren isn't an SEC-level QB.....you can bet your last dollar that Kiffin is scouting the portal.....

He possibly could. But should he?

There may be better options than Van Buren. If so, Lane should probably choose one of those over Van Buren.

I'm really excited to see what Lane does for a QB. I doubt it'll be Van Buren.

This isnt the 3 meter springboard. You don't score more points for level of difficulty.
