Why wasn't BK's contract written so LA wasn't on the hook for it?

Because despite his employer (the athletic department) being a fully self-funded entity who has historically given money back to the university, they are still technically part of the LSU system.

If y’all want coaching contracts that don’t have the state “on the hook” for them, you’d need to spin the athletic department off as a separate nonprofit with no BOS control. Let’s make it happen.

Spoiler: it won’t.

Have you been spending time at a local motel with John Bel Edwards? Landry is 180 degrees from your buddy.

Landry could do everything he is doing now behind the scenes.

He is doing it publicly because he wants attention like he is a 16 year old girl with daddy issues.

Don't know about you but much like Trump Landry is not hiding what he thinks the problems are at LSU and college football in general. 16 year olds lie and hide grown arse men shouldn't.

I don't think this is true in an absolute sense. To take LA taxpayers out of the equation would mean the donors, TAF, etc pony up the money on the front end.

Pat McAfee doesn’t have a governor on his show because the governor is doing a great job for LSU… he had him on because it was pure comedy. Pat knew exactly what he was doing…giving a microphone to a total whacko

Did you see how he was looking at him in that clip?

You know they were laughing at him the minute he was gone.

So for every long-term contract the athletic department enters, you want TAF and/or the athletic department to have the full value secured as cash up front?

Sup shandyshane, First time caller here, just curious if you know when’s the last time Louisiana tax payers paid for the entire buyout of fired Coach? I’ll hang up and listen

Fair question, but that misses the point. It’s not about if taxpayers have paid yet. It’s about who is protecting LSU from ever being put in that spot again. When the same agent represents both the athletic director and the coaches he hires, that’s not a winning setup. That is a conflict of interest waiting to happen.

Landry is trying to make sure the next deal is done right and that LSU stops signing blank checks to the same circle of people. He is doing what real leadership does, calling it out before it costs everyone more in the long run

That's fine. But if you're going to come in and make public accusations, you better be correct about them. Landry wasn't and that makes him look like that 16 year old you're referring to.

Exactly all these people complaining are a bunch of snowflakes… They are literally brain dead zombies.. OMG I’m going to cry and raise a fit cause what our governor said who is protected our taxpayer money.. THE DONORS DO NOT HAVE TO FIT THE BILL IF THEY DONT WANT TO!! Bottom line!

He wouldn’t have been fired if donors weren’t fitting the bill.

The only way there is any risk to LSU is if the entire athletic department goes under. If you don’t think the athletic department can figure out how to cover $8.5m/year for a buyout without needing a bailout from the state, what makes you confident they can cover the $5-10m/year for an active coach? Or cover the bonds for a stadium expansion or facilities upgrade? Or cover any of the athletic department’s $200m/year in expenses?

If you think there’s a realistic chance the athletic department becomes insolvent let’s just shut the whole thing down.

Of course that’s fricking absurd, because there’s zero chance that it actually happens. But if this is a real concern, Kelly’s buyout should be the least of your worries.

He said Woodward ain’t picking the next coach and good.
That's. Not. His. Job.

He appoints the BOS, which picks/fires the president, who picks/fires the AD, each level getting input from the level above. Work the phones, have your people talk to their people, make your feelings known, and let the people he selected do their jobs. Instead, this clown grabs the screen/radio/social media spotlight at every opportunity so he can cosplay as an LSU superfan.

P.S. A lobbyist told me last month that Landry is the gift to trial lawyers that they thought JBE would be.

Landry is an a-hole. Typical Louisiana politician. Needs to get the hell out of the way.

He needs to realize his isn’t Huey Long
