Nick Saban managed these problem really well for years
Was easy to do when Saban could tell them “I’ll see yo it you can’t transfer to another SEC school” or “I will guarantee you will not get an eligibility waver”.
NIL and the transfer portal have ensured the teams like Bama will not be able to hoard all the players.

It's rare a future 1st round LT sits for 2 years
Except he wouldn't be sitting next year. The plan all along was to have him be the RT and kick Jones inside to guard. Heard knew this and was on board until about two weeks ago when another school filled his head with nonsense about being the LT and giving him NIL money he would have earned at LSU had he stayed. Sucks for him that no adult in his life can guide him properly.

Agree. The point was that we've done very well recruiting and developing the OL.

Where did you get that from? Not saying you're wrong, just would like to read about it.

No way he was coming back … you don’t recover from a selfish move like that

Heard is everything that is wrong with this country. Entitled 330lb baby! He could play on the right next year and move to the left when Campbell is a top 10 pick, but no he can’t come to grips that he isn’t better than Campbell so he is leaving. Good riddance!
Dude. Stfu. You are just a crybaby because he left your team. You didn’t say any of these about the players LSU GOT FROM OTHER TEAMS. Every generation has been about the bigger better deal. Get over yourself.

This was NIL play from all the insiders. I'm actually kinda glad he gone unlike many here. A guy who was at best, a backup as a freshman, was asking for even more money AFTER he got a big NIL deal to even come here in the first place. Who's to say if he starts and becomes All SEC or All All American, that he doesn't ask for another after the 2024 season? There is no way Kelly would want to deal with that crap 2 years in a row, and that sets a bad precedent for other players.
This happens when these relatives want more money instead of just staying out of the kid's business.

flipping before a life changing commitment towards earning your education and playing for school you love is different than making a commitment to coaches, a university and teammates, enrolling, going through a season and then saying " after further review, I want out because I believe I should be starting at LT"
Then you should be pushing for scholarships to be given as a 4 year deal automatically. As of now, these schools are handing out year to year scholarships. If they are not willing to invest in more than a year, then the players shouldn’t have to either. But you won’t see it that way I’m sure because of your own selfish reasons (even though you will try to hide it as something else).

It was all NIL! Dude wanted more money than Campbell! They better regulate NIL quickly because it’s already out of control!

You COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG! These last few generations are garbage. The parents of little kids from the late 80’s started this shite with that participation trophy bull shite.
This freaking entitled arse group doesn’t understand what it’s like to be committed.

My stance is y'all are just saying he has a character issue because he's leaving LSU.
My stance is that he's shown himself to be an entitled shite who is making a poor long term career decision based on bad advice instant gratification.

Hard to say definitively he would be starting next season. LSU is set to return a VERY experienced OL next season. The only loss is a center...which was their weakest position. It's also hard to say Dellinger and/or Frazier played poorly enough to lose their jobs. Particularly in light of the fact each would have 20+ more starts than Heard. Then you throw in the fact that you will have a starting RT (Emory) who has nearly 30 starts at the RT position and played really well. The "plan" may have been to stick Heard at RT and move Emory inside. But that plan can change if the other players are playing well.

Presumably you are employed. Think of a scenario where you are at a job and getting paid relatively well. You boss has promised you that you will eventually get a promotion, but he can't guarantee that with 100% certainty. Then comes along a competitor who is telling you they will give you the promotion you want and pay you more money. Would you not at least consider it?
For better or worse, that is kind of the way in college football today. Every player is a free agent...every year. It's hard for me to tell a 19 year kid, who may not come from significant means, to turn away several thousand dollars simply to stay with MY favorite team.
