24 points (assuming a normal XP) was enough for aTm to lose to the following teams:

App State
Miami
Arkansas
Bama
Auburn
UMass

24 points would have sent the game into OT vs the following teams:

MSU
USC
Florida

To recap, the only teams that aTm would have beaten if their opponents had only scored 24 points was:

Ole Miss
Sam Houston
LSU

But Perkins is Heisman worthy. Pffftttt!

He and LSU had their asses pushed in.

Are Roy and Wingo the only DT’s that can play?

Weak and next year’s defense could possibly be Lou Tepper level.

Lacy's drops were huge, both drive killers and the fumble right when we flipped momentum, not sure what key Daniel's was reading but sure looked like the handoff would have worked there.

But make no mistake it was the defense that lost this game. 23 points should have won this game going away.

Horrible game plan. Then the D line play was terrible on down blocking. The secondary couldn’t tackle. Then when 40 was in he would lose containment or rush on screens and passes in the flat. He always got caught up inside or rushed beyond th QB and locked up by the OT. No containment on the end and the cut back was there every time. The secondary didn’t tackle well and only two line backers you give up weight for some speed and some safety’s and corners don’t tackle with authority. Just frustrated with the suckered Dline on the down block and should have had a base 3/4 for that style of run game.

This was the main problem. LSU D line got their shite pushed in all night

I disagree. Defense played poorly in the first half and gave up 17. Then stoned them in the third. The offense just did not take advantage of a shitty Aggie defense.

We had a shitty call by the refs stop one drive in the third, and Daniels had a complete brain fart that stopped another - and gave A&M a scoop and score.

That was the game. The defense wore out after that, but 23 points is not enough. Sure, the defense was poor, but most of the reason we lost, imo, is poor QB play.

The defense did some poor tackling from the get go. No hard driving hits from anyone with the exception of Jay Ward.

JD is about as inconsistent as you can get. Somebody switched the resin bag with glue. He couldn't let go of the ball. Don't know why we don't run the statue of liberty play more often. Because that's exactly what he looks like when he just stands there perusing the defense.

LSU took the game lightly. They were already heading to Atlanta. They thought they would roll over the lowly Aggies. This game was a wake up call for next weekend. Another performance next weekend like the past will be embarrassing. I believe the Tigers will play well,,,,, I hope.

I’ve seen this said a bunch, but their defense is pretty good, especially when you consider how truly shitty the O is

I posted basically the same observation on the score board game night:

quote:

Turnover, bad calls by the refs, dropped passes, missed tackles were not the worst things.

The DL getting pushed three yards down the field on almost every play is the most troubling. The DL was manhandled.

The edge guys have just been unimpressive.

They are so impatient. As soon as BJ would crash down Achane would just cut and run around him. A DE not keeping contain is one of the most basic and frustrating things to watch in football.

I'm going to give Penn a break. He's a true sophomore at a position that is usually dominated by upperclassmen. That said, it will be a solid competition between Penn, Weeks, and Tolan for playing time opposite Perkins next year.
