They are so impatient. As soon as BJ would crash down Achane would just cut and run around him. A DE not keeping contain is one of the most basic and frustrating things to watch in football.

Of all the things about the game, this is what I’m most disappointed in Coach House for. There was zero adjustment to contain the edge rushes. It was no secret that Achane was going to run wide. Jimbo basically said “you know it’s coming, but we’re gonna do it anyway because you can’t stop it”. And he was right.

No doubt about it. LSU's defense looked like they were surprised that A&M was giving maximum effort. There was this sense of, "Don't you know who we are?"

As someone who played D end in high school and giving up contain was a near death penalty offense, I just can't understand the times I see in college and pro as well how frustratingly dismissive way too many players are with that responsibility.

If it's your job to contain that should be your no. 1 goal and almost nothing else should matter but holding that edge and not allowing anyone outside of you.

hat said, it will be a solid competition between Penn, Weeks, and Tolan for playing time opposite Perkins next year.

If Penn is starting this time next year, our LBer group is a liability. For a linebacker, he has poor straight line speed, has no quickness, and reacts late on every running play. You could normally correct the last issue, but not the first two. He does have good size. Maybe they can bulk him up and find a place for him on the D-Line in passing situations.

Look we don’t have depth at DL and many other positions. A team like UGA or Bama can rotate positions ( take out a player who isn’t performing) without a big drop in talent. We can’t… not yet.

yards off the line EVERY running play that went wide. No DE’s setting the edge. No linebackers keeping contain. Just looked like a bunch of boys getting thrown around by grown men. Completely embarrassing.

Coach House better have every defensive player’s arse in a chair watching film and shame their arse by number. No excuse for that piss poor effort and technique. Maybe Gordon McKernan throwing the NIL money got them thinking they are already somebody, but last night they played like nobodies. They embarrassed themselves last night.

This was the one recent game where the defense needed the offense and what did they do? Spent the entire 3rd and 14 minutes of the 4th quarter giving up as many points as they scored.

You act like the offense has no say in this.... the other team is also trying...

Sounds like a very ineffective way of managing the situation to be honest

Gotta believe Roy and Wingo are toast. They've played damn near every snap.

This is what I was saying. The things that depth does is give players longevity in a game, and a season. For what it’s worth, they’ve been playing great with the reps they’ve been getting, but taking >95% of snaps every big game starts to add up. I think it showed against A&M.

It’s unfortunate, but this honestly should’ve affected more games than this. Just wish it didn’t happen against A&M.

Well, maybe they teach it different these days, but I don't think it's that much different. Never give up contain and even on balls going away from you there is a pursuit angle you are taught to take in case it's a reverse or mis-direction.

I thought Achane was a 240 pound back, the way he bulldozed his way through, running over DLinemen. I was amazed when they said he was 185. If I were on defense I would be ashamed.
