If he opens up his zone to half a foot in all directions when he gets two strikes, he becomes a very bad hitter. You’re wrong.

But I'd sure have liked to see him foul that off, instead of standing there hoping for a call

No, he was right. It wasn’t even fricking close. There was no reason to swing.

The question is, where was Paul Manieri on that strike call against Crews? Doesn’t defend his players.

He can’t see the game from where he sits in the dugout. For real.

Paul is still wearing his mask when it’s no longer required. Muffles his screams at the ump.

Probably hard for a coach in a dugout to see be able to tell a ball from a strike from the dugout without a tv

The ball was above the knees, it was just way outside. Probably hard for Mainieri to tell from his angle, and Crews really didn't react THAT much.

I would like to see Crews be more animated there, but I know you can't really ask that of a college kid. It was that bad of a call, though.

I'm not asking him to open up his strike zone on every pitch. With two strikes, you gotta be ready to swing. Home plate umpires suck. This isn't news. Don't leave it in their hands. And you completely ignored the part about him missing the fastball down the middle. The kid is not a clutch hitter. Maybe next year he will be. This year? No.

It shouldn’t be that hard to see where the catcher is set up and where the glove may move or what the reaction of his player is, particularly one as skilled as Crews. But I’m guessing Paul can do no wrong in your eyes. So there’s no point in arguing with you any further.

Good way for a kid to be kicked out of a game. This ain’t the majors they don’t let players argue very much.

Hope we can get a second run home now that the bases are loaded with one out. Always worrisome.
