If the NFL really wants to do away with this stuff they would actually roll the helmet technology back or take them off completely.

No one is lowering their head and hitting with it if they aren’t wearing a helmet!

FIFY, I have all but given up on the NFL. If it wouldn't be for the Saints(which I barely even watch anymore) I would be completely done with the NFL. I rarely watch any games(maybe the Bengals), but that's about it. Roger Goodell and the league has sucked the life out of the game which I use to love!

Comments like these are puzzling. A lawyer can only bring a suit once he has a client, and when he does, it’s not a personal matter but a job. IMO, former nfl players and doctors are more at fault than anyone else. The NFLPA constantly raise claims regarding former players health and safety, then demand current players have full treatment post playing, insurance, etc. The nfl, in an attempt to curve liability and future claims, then responds by imposing new rules that reduce the physicality of the game. I hate it, but that’s the way the cookie crumbled. I think that when you’re paid millions of dollars, you accept the risk and reward.

Under today's rules there never would have been a Jack Lambert, Ray Nitschke, Dick Butkus. So glad I witnessed the game in it's pure form.

You have to lower your head slightly...how the hell do you tackle somebody when you're running at them and you're completely vertical? do you just bump chests and hope that they fall down???

He should sue the nfl for this crap. No way that was an illegal hit.
he should cry racism. That usually works.

I mean that is beyond absurd that he’d be penalized tens of thousands of dollars for doing his job and making a clean hit with 0 ill intent . So absurd he deserves to make an absurd allegation like that. NFL pisses me off with the penalty calls.

Clean hit. Shoulder pad contact. It wasn't even that violent of a collision. Can he appeal the fine?

Sounds like we agree that the game was more enjoyable, as a fan for sure, when it was more physical (IMO: same for basketball). I was born 93 so I only got a fading view of the game at its best before it started going down the toilet.

Did he give the RB a chance to lay down on his own? I didn't see it...

He did lower his helmet & put his “crown” into the RBs chest. That used to be a textbook tackle but alas the NFL has gone the way of the vagina!!

Yep. I watched it on a big monitor frame by frame. He lowered his head just before the hit. I have to think that's the part that got him fined.

Chicken shite fine In My Opinion. But that's where we're at these days. And despite looking clean in real time, he 100% lowers his head and the crown of his helmet hits the chest.
Funny thing is he did just like this emoji

That is a dangerous way to hit, and I'm fine with the rule and the teeth behind it.

But officiating in general is so god awful. So many examples, but the Saints losing a game last year because Tyrann called for 'hand to the face' when he clearly pushed on the shoulder pad...

If the NFL can't fix dumb shite like that, what's the point of watching?
