False

They’re trying to prevent being sued. All this ‘player safety’ bullshite is just a facade

That is how everyone is taught to tackle in the junior leagues on up.
Helmet to the chest.
Clean as a whistle

I find it completely unwatchable. Has been for years. I also believe it's possible that some outcomes are fixed and achieved through officiating.

Agreed. I did not see the crown of his helmet make any contact.

We have reached the point where anything that looks like a hard hit is going to draw a flag or fine. But then this is the league that made coaches wear masks on the sidelines.

There is absolutely no way around your helmet touching/colliding in some degree when you make a tackle at any high rate of speed.
Terrible call, his head was up and everything.

He did lower his helmet & put his “crown” into the RBs chest.

You are supposed to lower your head. What you are not supposed to do is straighten your neck (they call it "ducking your head" but when you go for the tackle your spine is close to horizontal to the ground, so straightening your neck results in your head being lower for that moment). That kind of impact directly down the vertebral column in the neck is highly dangerous. That's why spearing (using the crown of the helmet) was outlawed in the first place. The problem -- as you seem to be noting with your use of quotes around "crown" -- is that the NFL (and college football) have redefined the crown of the helmet (for some stupid reason) to include basically everything above the facemask. So when you drive yourself directly into the runner's center of gravity face-first (which is the safest method for both involved), the brow of your helmet makes contact (since the opponent is bigger than your facemask), and thus "crown of the helmet" contact. Even more frustrating is the fact that apparently many of the college refs still understand what crown of the helmet actually means, so the rule is not enforced consistently (big shock).

Tl;dr: it's a bullshite decision; Alexander did it perfectly, and if they make people stop doing it that way they are going to get more people injured.

Face mask to chest not crown of the helmet!

bullshite.

Nobody is taught to look at the ground while tackling for three reasons. First, that's how you injure yourself. Second, you can't tackle what you can't see. Third, we don't coach players to use the helmet as a weapon.

Would they rather he go for the knees and possibly cripple the receiver for life? I hope the Steelers do the right thing and pay the fine for him.

Leading with the crown has never been textbook. That's dangerous and a way to break your neck.

Kwon clearly showed zero intent to pull the runners flag,
how can you even argue that point

That was flagged?!?

Jeebus! What a shite call.

NFL just needs to go ahead and become a flag football league.

Looks like a clean hit even in modern football.

I haven't avidly watched the NFL in many years (and I used to watch 3 or 4 games per week). While not a major reason, this (ticky-tack, inconsistent officiating) is a factor.

I agree nfl has become ridiculous with these unnecessary roughness penalties, but college is getting just as bad.

Possible? That def happens. The saints rams NFC champ proved that.

And now with sports gambling being legal and they have a nice partnership with sports betting sites. Last year it seemed like most games every week came down to the final minute.
