I'd scrap the bottom of the barrel, too. I might scrape it if there was value there.

well good luck with Sage. He had his chances at LSU. Did he ever have a good game at LSU? I wonder what they paid him. Whatever it was, it was too much.

What Auburn fans are legitimate talent evaluators? They probably say that so he won’t bolt to another SEC team.

Do you think he is better than Sage Ryan or Major Burns?

This is what I find a little funny about a lot of the safety hand-wringing.

Last year our starting safeties, for most of the season, were:
Sage Ryan (RS-JR)
Jardin Gilbert (RS-JR)
Major Burns (SR)

If you put a gun to my head right now and asked me for next year’s starting safeties, I’d say chalk is probably:
Dashawn Spears (SO)
Jardin Gilbert (RS-SR)
Harold Perkins (RS-JR)

For the sake of argument, let’s say we don’t get a single guy in the portal from here on out. Is that projected 2025 starting group worse than 2024? I don’t think so. You have Perkins replacing Burns, and Spears with a full year in Baker’s defense (or college defense in general). I think it’s a better group.

We definitely need depth, and we need some guys to come in and compete for starting spots. But I don’t think we are as far away as people are suggesting. I definitely don’t think we need some sort of all-conference transfer to make them serviceable.

Perkins played two full seasons and was injured in his third season. Therefore, he would be a RS-JR.

You’re right. Had a brain fart, corrected.

Lsu fans need to humble themselves. our safety play has been so awful. Scraping the bottom of the barrel in the portal may be better than what we have had out there.
