Do or die the season. I said yesterday, I want the bullseye squarely on our backs all season. We have a great team and there is no reason to start back=peddling with wimpy azz excuses now. Miles better ride this biotch to the promised land...or damned close....or he needs to get him a cup of pencils and set up shop in front of Walmart.
This is pretty much the opinion of all adult LSU Fans/Alums/Season Ticket Holders that I personally know and/or meet out and about the BR area.

It's do or die this season for LM. Too much talent in the program now. No more excuses for failure. Beat Rammer Jammer and win the West or it's "Farewell and Adieu"..............

Yeah it is a TERRIBLENESS thing be labeled as one of the best and getting the national attention...

The pressure to before to your expectations works better than the lasidic view of being an underdog.

Either we have passion for our team, which often leads to emotional and sometimes unreasonable opinions from a fanbase or we can have apathy, where nobody really talks negatively because they don't care....like say Tulane.

Give me the former. To your point, we should expect much and have high hopes for this team. This team is very talented with practical experience coming back from a team that won 9 games, we've upgraded our defensive coaching staff and our schedule does a good job of putting us in a good position to prepare best for the bigger games.

So expectations should be high and I think it would be reasonable as a fan given the time an money many of us invest to be disappointed should we have a season like say....last years. To me that would be a disappointment.

Low expectations would be so much more fun.

You could become a Ms State or a ULL fan so you wouldn't have to worry about lofty expectations

It's the first season since 2011 that we haven't been decimated by the draft. We return more starters than anyone in the country. We have been drawing top 5 classes like it's a habit (second in recruiting over the past 5 years, trailing only Bama). Our three-deep rotation at pretty much every position is stacked with talent and potential. We have youth, talent, AND experience.
We're trending upward with an 8-5 season followed by (for all intents and purposes) a 10-3 season. We have the best football player in the country. We have arguably the hottest DC in the country.

...And you're upset about high expectations and confused by high rankings?

GTFO, guy.

Better to set a high goal and miss it than a low goal and hit it

But now IF we dont make it to at least a playoff spot (god forbid) , all we will hear is how Brandon Harris failed to lead the team.

Id like us to earn hype, not just have it. Thats some major pressure to put on a team that faces Nick Saban annually.

then maybe you should stop making threads on SECrant and running your mouth in all of them

Wow. Ok, forget "LSU", let's make it "Imaginary State University" so it doesn't apply to any team you have a connection to.

Finished last season ranked.
Had a game against a lower division team rained out and cancelled; if you pencil in that win, would have had a 10 win season.
Most of the team was underclassmen, returning, what, 17? starters, including every skill position on offense (team technically only returned 1 starter last year).
Of these returning starters, include the consensus best RB prospect of the past decade.
Also of these starters, include the top recruited WR of his class.
Imaginary State University continues to bring in Top 5 recruiting classes, so you have to figure there is young talent pushing at every position.
On defense:
returns one of the best secondaries in college football, including a safety that many consider worthy of All American status.
Returns a potential All American at linebacker.
Solid 3rd year starter in the interior D line.
Possible All American pash rush specialist, whether he lines up at OLB or DE.
Swapped from a vanilla defensive coordinator with a history of being burned, to one of the most highly regarded young minds in the game today.

And you wouldn't put this team in your preseason Top Ten???

18 out of 22 starters back, a leading Heisman trophy contender, many projected first round NFL draft picks, I hardly call this hype, it is FACTS!
