Says she doesn’t play “the happy game.”

“The happy game gets your butt beat against teams you shouldn’t lose to”

She plays to win

To be fair, the people asking for it aren't doing so because they care about the bench player's feelings. Rather, they want to keep the starters and rotation players from getting injured while they are on the floor in a game that is mathematically over.

That and getting Del Rosario, Velez, and Kent some good PT against SEC teams. We're going to need depth in the tourney. All it takes is a foul-happy ref like the one in the NC game and we're screwed.

Yeah, to hell with giving the subs meaningful minutes when you can afford to do so.

(-1000 in March) Mulkey belittles reporter for asking about a 2nd strings performance after a starter goes out with an injury.

Those games vs UGA and KY may afford more bench opportunities

With her track record I don’t think people should be second-guessing her. She is almost the skip Bertman of women’s college basketball at this point.

I mean if she had 9 players that she trusted on the floor, I think she would be. But she doesn't at this time.

We have the best coach possible. This is best case scenario. Enjoy it while we have her. We should all shut up and enjoy the ride

Keeping your best players in keeps your program off sport center losing to a buzzer beater.

I'll keep trusting one of the best coaches to ever do it in any sport. On the other hand, you can get back to screwing up a number 3 with no onions.

She's always played a small number of players, in early season blowouts she may empty the bench but when it's conference and tourney time she relies on her main 7.

I get what she is saying but what is the old saying?

'Your bench players are one play from becoming a starter.'

No doubt, she has had amazing success as a player and a coach.

Injuries, illness, suspensions, player quitting the team, fouling out in critical games, giving your bench players some PT...

Kim much like Jay Johnson did last year used the whole season to prepare for a championship run. It seems like they try different shite during the season to see how it works and if it means losing a few games than so be it but when it’s go time the best players will be on the court or field. Conferences championship or SEC tournament are nothing it’s the NATTY that matters.

This is the exact opposite of what Kim Mulkey said.

She lost 2 key contributors at the beginning of the season or she probably would be. Sa'Myah Smith was the biggest blow.

Long time lurker, recently joined, and first time posting.

I trust her judgement. She wants to win and for the girls to play well. She called timeout yesterday with 40 seconds to go while up 13 to coach the girls up after the mistake on the inbound play. To me that shows her commitment to getting the most out of this team.

Amazing how people sitting on their couch think they know more than the national Championship Coach.

I would like to see more playing time for the bench too, I am sure if Poole and Smith had not left and got injured we would not be having this discussion.
