UGA coach or a Mulkey assistant coach are the early predictions.

What part isn’t true?

I bet he is promising that her daughter takes over as head coach when she eventually retires.
I'm not even sure Makenzie will be coaching for much longer - her own decision. Her husband has done quite well in Waco as a Real Estate broker.

LOL it’s being reported all over the place now. Yes she is.

It's 850K. Baylor could offer double that and still be saving a bunch.
Yep. Kim was paid over $2.5M at Baylor according to the most recently filed Form 990. $850K is nothing.

The truth is Mulkey and the Baylor AD (Mack Rhodes) don't work well together. Mack was never going to fire Kim Mulkey - she's a legend and will do well at LSU. However, it got to a point this past week that they could not co-exist.
Mulkey went into a meeting with the Mack with an LSU offer in hand and wanted confirmations that the new basketball arena would be built on campus (opposed to off-campus 2 miles down the road) and her name would be on the court.
Baylor AD told her that wasn't happening, Mulkey got upset and said some things that are going to make a good working relationship very challenging if she were to stay at Baylor.
She tracked down Baylor University President that same night and that conversation was described as "confrontational". It didn't help Mulkey's case if she desired to stay at Baylor.
There is a lot that has been building up to this. Kim has always had a lot of power over Baylor athletic directors in the past and is used to getting what she wants with very little accountability. The new Baylor AD inherited a program where Kim had a guaranteed long-term contract and a large annual deficit of $6 million per year.
He was never of the mindset that he wanted to get rid of Kim, but he certainly had no interest in focusing additional resources on women's basketball or extending that deficit. So from an attention and resource standpoint, Kim Mulkey probably felt that women's basketball wasn't getting the love that it felt in the past. The new Baylor AD inherited a mess in football and has spent most of his time and energy trying to get football right.

This was really a demand from Kim?

I mean not if you listen to OP but if you look around - you'll see evidence that this was a demand.
Just check Kramer's twitter account - he was lobbying for it after Mulkey won her 3rd national championship. Look - I have no problem naming the court after Kim but not until AFTER she retires. Silly to do that during someone's career. It is what it is - I wish her the very best and if she had to go somewhere else, I'm glad it's LSU.

Another factor is she was close to having enough years for retirement/pension at Louisiana Tech. One of the reasons she took Baylor job was that Tech administration wouldn't give her a contract extension that got her there. By coming back to LSU, she can vest.

You sticking with that?

This makes sense. I understand everyone here is excited, and they should be, but at the end of the day, it's still Women's basketball.

Best wishes to Kim and thanks for all the wins.
She picked a very poor time to make demands of Baylor on the heels of the Men’s Championship. 2.5 million for a women’s coach wasn’t enough for her. Hope she enjoys the new challenge. If her health holds up, LSU will win a Natty.

BeYou - you have no idea what you are writing about. You were not there for a first hand account of the meeting. You are merely repeating fabricated stories from a Baylor sports board. In my initial post, I told the true and correct story. Ask anyone in Waco if I would be the one to know these facts and 90% will tell you that I am the person most likely to have knowledge about these facts.
It has been known for some time that most loyal Lady Bear backers wanted Kim's name on the Court. That was true. However, at no time during the meeting with the AD did Kim demand that her name be put on the new basketball court.
I am not sure of your agenda, but I know all of the parties involved and what you wrote, and are writing, is simply false. Repeating fabricated rumors does nothing for Baylor or LSU. I am truly sorry that Baylor lost a great coach and, at the same time, I am very excited that LSU is getting one of the top WBB coaches of all-time.

Kim got jealous of the attention the men’s team had gotten and threw a tantrum.
Well known in Waco and parts beyond. Sad. A fresh start was probably needed.
