Yes, its a shame. Waco only averages 2,500,000 visitors a year now for the last 5 years. I've lived in Waco for 33 years (growing up in Lake Charles) and it is one of the best cities in Texas. Great family town. Kim is a queen here. She loves Louisiana, but also loves Waco. We leave the liberals in Austin. By the way, I'm only an hour and twenty minutes from downtown Austin or Ft Worth and an hour and a half from downtown Dallas. Not too many people have those options, especially in Mobile, Alabama. Guess how many TAF development officers and their wives made a day trip down to Waco when they came to DFW for the Miami? Over half of them. I love it when people have no idea what is going on in other parts of the world.

La Tech gutted the best sports program in their school's history and put all their marbles into their mid-major football program. Sad if you ask me, because the Lady Techsters were dominate for decades. Didn't Tech go cheap and not offer her an extra year in that contract?

I hope we never pay that for a sport that loses money.

It loses money now because the team sucks! When they were making Final 4’s year in and out, they made money.

Not to demean what the Lady Techsters accomplished in the 70's and 80's, but when other schools in the country with way more resources than Tech started giving a shite about women's basketball, it was over for them and they have been relegated to being just another mid-major ever since. Same thing for Old Dominion.

Been to Waco plenty and my wife is a Baylor grad. It’s a nice school, but the town is definitely a dump and there’s far less to do than Dallas, Austin, or Ft. Worth.

I’d rather live in Baton Rouge than Waco and I’ll never move back to Baton Rouge.

Glad you are happy living in Waco. To each his own. You love it when other people don’t know what’s going on in other parts of the world? Well I just love it when folks assume people from Louisiana that live in Mobile, AL don’t know what’s going on in other parts of the world. My partners and I own import lumber businesses in Pflugerville, TX just south of you, Lufkin, TX, Mobile, Milwaukee, Atlanta, and two reload centers in northern and Southern California. I’m in Waco at least once a month calling on Dakota Hardwoods and I’m sorry that it hurts your feelings but I think the city you are so fond of is not my cup of tea. For 2 million a year like Kim makes I could learn to like Waco. If LSU offered me 2 million to coach at LSU I’d be packing my suitcase and burning rubber out the driveway headed to Baton Rouge because Waco sucks arse.

100% agree. People show up for our gymnastics team and they would for women’s basketball if we started winning and had a charismatic coach that they liked.

Earthquake, I agree. I'm an alumni of both also, but I certainly wouldn't live in Austin these days.

I’d take a lake house in that hilly terrain right outside of Austin over Waco all day long. Not a fan of downtown Austin but at least there is stuff to do. The traffic in Austin is awful. Worse than BR and that’s saying a mouthful right there. 2 million a year wouldn’t go as far in Austin though. In regards to what the OP brought up I still wish Kim Mulkey could be our coach at LSU. Like I said I lived right next door to her and I watched her play point guard with pigtails while she was at Tech and that lady is a straight up winner.

Kramer's mom was Kim Mulkey!? Jesus, why didn't they show her on TV or talk about it once or twice an inning to let us all know?

100% this. Jim Oakes was the worst AD ever. He knew zero about sports and his term as AD was one of the worst eras of sports ever for Tech.

She was about to be named the HC at Tech when she walked to Baylor. Leon Barmore had to quickly un-retire.

Logan, you may remember this then: When Kim Mulkey was a child of about 10, I was a sportswriter for a weekly newspaper in Hammond and she was the first girl in Louisiana to play Little League baseball. That was a day and time when the common belief was that girls should not play on sports teams with boys and the folks in Hammond were furious.
I wrote a column that said she was the best LL player I had ever seen. That ticked the folks off even more. At the end of the season she was named to the LL All-Star team. On the day of the game, two lawyers stood on the pitcher’s mound arguing over whether she should be allowed to play. One had a court order barring her from the game. She wasn’t even allowed to sit in the dugout with her team. She sat in the stands with her dad and I and cried most of the time.
Afterwards, the boys on her team -- who really wanted her to play -- passed by her in the stands and tipped their caps to her out of respect.

I think this should be on the LSU trigger list.
It's on MY trigger.

Mammy Kramer should've been hired after Sue Gunter retired; at minimum after Pokey got canned.

LSU would've been a National power in WBB with KM.

Can you imagine Wade & Mulkey now?
