I am sure the new coordinator will be good for LSU. Duck fans are all too familiar with Crowten. However, my experience with coordinators in the first game is that a learning curve is still there. He has to install his scheme and it take time to get it going.

Auburn fans told us that Gus Malzhan was the best coordinator we'd face. I will take Aliotti in his 26th year at the program and long time d coordinator.

An Auburn fan posted earlier that your defensive coordinator deserved credit for coming up with great schemes to to contain Cam Newton and the Auburn offense. I don't agree with that assessment. I thought Malzahn of Auburn called an extremely poor game in that Oregon played with 3 lineman on the line of scrimmage and had 8 playing off the line, having 2 men spy Cam Newton.

Well we've had numerous players come out and say that playing Oregon was like playing a team that knew exactly what we were about to do before we did it. It definitely seemed they had people in position to make defensive plays most of the game. They definitely didn't adjust to stop that wheel route we run with Lutzenkirchen and some other dude though.

Point is, I don't know how much grief you can give Malzahn for how he called the game, especially when such a huge part of the running game (Newton) was really struggling from getting banged up early.

"Cramps"... lots of "cramps"....

At least that is what some Aggies claimed slowed down/disrupted the flow of their offense in the Cotton Bowl!

The one point that is lost in almost all SEC-country analysis of the NCG - Oregon had something to do with Newton's "off night."

Of course you did! It was a clay Matthews helmet to the lower back in the first half that disrupted cam. You boys could teach us a thing or two about offense, but when it comes to d, I assure you LSU will field a much faster, harder hittig, aggressive, and all around better defense. Auburn was better than us last year, but the defenses don't compare.

Clay Matthews from Green Bay Packers lowered his helmet into Cam? It was actually a Rowe tackle off of the edge.

Play with 12 or 13 defenders. Ohh... what happened with Tennessee anyway? Was that a close one? Not for us, but they did win the first quarter.

It works both ways, the DC has to figure out what the OC's trying to do. The DC has to cover up his weakness on his side. They can go back to see what kRags has run before. He's taking off a little of what the Wiz did. With LSU, a little more efficient offense is all thats needed. Last year 11 games were won, at times the Wiz was throwing stuff against the wall to see what would stick. kRags resume as a OC and QB coach tells you he gets more into fine tuning the QB play. The QB only needs to manage the game, kind of like what we had with the two Matts.

That is the answer.

Every HC has the last say, everyone does this. I know this much. "Run Clock!"

So we shouldn't see much of a difference than what we've seen thhe past 6 years. And pretty much any talk of Krag coming in and doing his own thing should be dismissed.

Don't have to change much.

Why would you say this, Jimbo offense wasn't the same as the Wiz?

Jimbos with Nick wasn't the same as Jimbo with Les?

Points per game does

Rephrase that. I think when Les took over, much of Jimbo's playbook was kept in and was still kept in when Crowton came in, and they incorporated some of Crowton's stuff into the playbook.

Rephrase that. Be more clear.

I don't think there is going to be a wild departure from what we've been doing the past 6 years with Krag coming. He may incorporate some of his stuff but contrary to what some may have posted the past couple of months, I don't think he'll be to just call anything he wants at anytime with Les as head coach.

As I posted in another thread. LSU will put 8 in the box and dare Oregon to throw against a variety of blitzes. Y'all will try to penetrate with the DT's and make the QB carry the ball. The one thing that Oregon can and will do which can hurt you is throw the ball to the running backs. But, I expect the blitz package from LSU will be very effective against an inexperienced O line.

This. Our offense needs to stay on the field as long as possible and wear down their defense, and our defensive line needs to constantly be disruptive in the backfield to throw off their tempo

You can't put 8 in the box against Oregon.
