I bet CJJ and CWJ get in the ears of the umpire crew about UKs approach at the plate. I watched a few innings of their game yesterday and every batter puts his toes almost on the inner batter's box chalk. They are looking to squeeze the strike zone, making it harder on the pitcher AND umpire. They had over 20 HBPs in their regional.

With this approach their hitters are perilously stepping close to if not on/over the chalk which should be an OUT. By rule 'if a batter hits a pitched ball with any part of his foot or knee outside of the batter's box, including home plate, then the batter is out'.

I saw this with some check-swings and turns to bunt. On one bunt attempt the batter's entire foot was outside the box. The coaches need to harp on this so we get some 'free outs' vice letting them bully the K zone.

Of course some Skenes 100 mph FBs buzzing them will get their attention too.... Our pitching staff needs to stay in the zone and not give them any free passes to 1b.

At this point in the season, if you've made it this far, you are good enough to compete with your opponent. Period. That goes both ways, for UK as well as LSU. We have to be on our game in all phases. That said, I'm feeling pretty confident.
