I think we're all saying the same thing here, aren't we?

At the start of the season, "meaningful" probably meant something different to CBK than it does now. Given what he started with, I imagine "meaningful" probably meant an improving team coming together and aligning with the program he wanted to put in place. "Meaningful" as in "we're moving forward every game".

Now, though, "meaningful" means all that - and a little more. Now, these "meaningful" games will determine just how much higher on the bar we go at the end of the season than anyone really expected. "Meaningful" now means that everything is on the table, to some degree...

CFP? Win out, win the west, win the SECCG and hope that the committee rewards the comeback team of the year with a place in the playoffs? Not very likely, but still possible if the right dominoes fall (see 2007).

Win the SECCG and play in a big NY6 bowl? More likely than the CFP but still a long shot - we'd have to win out and beat both Bama and either UGA or Tenner.

Win the west, lose the SECCG and play in a NY6 bowl? Might happen with the SEC tie-in to the Sugar Bowl. I'd love to see a rematch with K-State (assuming they keep winning).

You can go on and on, but the point is that these scenarios are possible (if not likely). What LSU fan at the start of the season wouldn't have been over the moon if they'd been told that those things would be valid possibilities the week before Bama?

This is what Kelly brings to the table: deliberate, calculated, and proven program building vision and plan implementation.

It’s so much more than a tag line, or cheerleading on the sidelines, or a goofy but lovable persona.

Kelly is the real deal, and regardless of what happens against Bama this weekend, I hope people recognize how much further ahead of schedule we are in this rebuild, and that Kelly is the right man for the job.

We are one missed extra point away from being a top ten team….let that sink in.

Really puts to bed all that “2019 was just a flash in the pan” talk.

LSU has always been a NC contender. We have just had stubborn coaches that would shoot our teams in the foot trying to get there.

Kelly will right the ship.

I figured we’d lose to

Tenn
Ala
And 1 of ole miss, Florida, or Arkansas

I’m happy if we get to 9-3 but still pissed about FSU. Hope we push in their shite next year in Orlando.

I don't disagree, but (with respect), what's your point?

Even if we had beaten FSU in the opener, nearly every LSU fan I knew still suspected - at that time - that this would be a rebuilding year with several more losses than we have now.

I'm extremely happy to have LSU exceed nearly everyone's expectations this early in CBK's first year. And I appreciate the level-headed approach that Coach Kelly brought to an obviously depleted and rebuilding year - establish the goal, implement the process to achieve that goal, get the team to buy-in to the process that will achieve the goal, and show steady progress on a weekly basis.

I hope we beat the brakes off of Bama, Arky and 4feit&8. But if we take just two of those three games, the season will be much better than I expected at the start. And, I suspect, I'm not the only one that feels that way.

I think more than a few thought we would have a good chance to win the games we have won.

Coming into the season and looking at the MSST/AU/FL/OM games each one looked very winnable individually but I wasn't expecting to win all four.

yep we’re due next year. It’s a 4 year cycle beginning in 2003.

I'm mostly with you - I expected losses to Tenner, Bama, Ole Miss and Florida (after watching them destroy Utah in Game 1).

Arkansas was a toss-up to me because (1) it's in Fayetteville, and (2) their offense was REALLY good last year - with most of their starters returning.

4&8 was also a toss-up at the start of the season for me. Jimblow may be a turd of a coach, but he did buy the best recruiting class ever seen. On sheer talent alone I thought they'd be better than they are. Given that - and the fact that we have to play them in CS, I had no idea how that game would go.

So, realistically speaking, I was expecting a 7-5 record when the season started, and I would have been very happy with that record as long as the team showed improvement over the season.

The fact that - the week before we play Bama - nearly every possible goal is still in play (however likely or unlikely they may be) is something I wouldn't have thought possible before (or after) Game 1.

I’m still pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming about LSU finally having a coach that can articulate an intelligent thought.

Given our roster situation ending last year, WHO would have thought we would be playing the Gumps for the West in a meaningful game in November...

Makes driving to Baton Rouge from Houston a lot nicer drive...

Looking forward to the game and hope our players show out like they have the past 2 weeks...

Next year be damned. We can make a run at this bitch now with Daniels showing he has the Tools we hoped.

Next year is just that Next. Let’s win the SEC this damn year.

A good recruiting class to fill in gaps will help this team to win major games.

Yep. If you remember seasons like 2002, 2006, we were surprisingly good and improved a ton throughout the season.

That wasn't for the win. Surely they have a good chance to win in OT the way the game was going at that point but there is never a guarantee.

Make the extra point and the game is tied. And don't give me this BS that we definitely would have won. It would have been 50/50.
