Crazy. Took half my life to save that amount.

I disagree. If his LLC is being paid, there are deductions, regardless of if entity type for fed tax purposes. Those deductions are available to review by LDR.

For cause?…

What are you talking about? Did you read the contract?

The bulk of the money is supplemental income for “media appearances” and “interest” in the program. It’s a legal farce specifically so that his actual salary is outside of what you’re referencing. This is not uncommon and how every single college coach is paid. It’s right there for you to read.

Exactly how far down the drain does this program have to sink before you stop blindly defending this farce?

He’s not blindly defending anything. He’s telling you that’s how all public university coaches contracts are structured.

Wouldn’t you EXPECT a coach to make a post season game/bowl if you’re paying them millions of dollars? I mean damn. That should be the expectations.

Of course. I think it should have been structured differently.

I think Kiffin had 150k bonus for 5 SEC wins & for each win above that.

Then he had like a 50k bonus for low bowl game, 100k for 1 of the 6 bigger SEC bowls, 125k for Citrus bowl, & 250K for CFP bowl.

Might be different now, I think that was his original contract.

It’s not like the coaches are the ones writing this up, it’s the agent

His contract is standard for major college program coaches. He isn’t the only coach not living up to his contract but it is the market rate. Coaches have been taking ADs to the woodshed for last 25 yrs

I can’t imagine that we would be stupid enough to give a bonus for 6 wins. I won’t believe this until it is proven to me.

The claim is the payments are made to the LLC “for legalese terms that don’t matter”. I disagree that the reasons don’t matter. They are paid to his LLC so that income is taxed as business income, not wages, so that he can take deductions against that income. This matters a great deal in terms of after tax money he actually gets to keep. It’s a common agreement because these guys are in the highest tax brackets and are trying to save on tax, and you are silly if you don’t think that’s the reason.

Im not exactly serious, but I’m just suggesting, if you have an employee that you are trying to fire for cause, and you are also the taxing authority…take a look at those deductions.

A legal farce, but why? I think I just told you…

It’s not. His contract is publicly available you know.

At least there’s a mitigation clause. Because his pompous arse couldn’t resist a gig at FOX sports or similar if he gets canned.

I don’t really see Kelly as a camera hound. He seems more to me like the kind of guy to move to Lake Geneva and get into some kind of European business venture. Also doesn’t seem like a great hire for the networks because he’s not likeable, funny, or engaging.

Yea, you revealed nothing. Everyone is away why LLC’s exist. You’re just focused on it for some reason when it isn’t relevant to the thread. I said it doesn’t matter why because it doesn’t ITT. No one gives a shite about his taxes.

LLCs exist to limit liability, which I didn’t discuss at all.

We are all very proud of you for knowing the contract is publicly available and being able to read the Compensation section. Nobody is trying to take that away from you, and I realize my point is tangentially related to the fact that the contract says what he gets paid for, and how it is paid. I’m very sorry for taking the discussion beyond anything you said.

I do still disagree that nobody gives a shite about his taxes. I imagine the state does…and the contract is publicly available because…

Remember Miles having the same type of incentive. Now with an extra SEC game, that means one less rent a win for the team. All Miles had to do was win 4 rent a wins, maybe 5, and then beat either Vandy, or Miss. St., Arky low feeders and boom, incentive kicks in.

Winning 6 games is an “incentive”? Lol

Winning 6 games should be a firing offense.

The incentives, in terms of number of games won, should start at 10, minimum.
