On freshman QB Walker Howard: "He gains more knowledge every day. He believes he's better than every QB we have, which is awesome and you want that. But he respects everyone in the room. We have a good feeling about him."

That makes me optimistic about Howard, but why don’t our reporters ask CBK why we haven’t made a change at QB? Or if he plans on it?

Brian Kelly more than likely believes that Walker is the best QB in the room and that’s his way of saying it. If you notice, he speaks in extremely indirect coach speak, but it has a pattern and he does use it to reveal what he thinks without trashing players too much or being too much of a dick about it

Can he play in all those games without burning his redshirt? Remember, Howard played vs. Southern.
I thought the plan was to redshirt him this season. I hope he can see action in as many games as possible, so he can be ready for 2023.

Came in for garbage time vs Southern or NM. Can’t remember which one.
He made a run or two in the game and had some wheels. Not fast but fast enough to respect, like Burrow.

Sidebar - is the intent to redshirt for leverage down the road? If he’s good enough to start as a freshman what’s the point to a fifth year?

As Hanny said after the game. You wanna throw your true freshman in on the road at the swamp? Or what about against Bama? Howard's dad was thrown into a bad situation, my guess is his dad and the staff have had discussions and that's not what their plan is moving forward.
Obviously nuss is not what we all thought he is and the coaches don't trust him to come in and be better
Accept what this season is and look forward to Howard for next season.

With Walker having the inside track.
Nobody wanted to hear this on Saturday, but I think Kelly knew LSU wasn't winning a title this year and didn't wanna ruin Walker's career before it could really ever begin. Jayden Daniels is your QB for this season and that likely will not change, but Walker Howard is the future. Anyone with a brain can see that.

If we have not won another game by UAB, then start him. We have got to have at least two more games for bowl eligibility.

They asked him after the game and he said that they didn't think Daniels was the problem, so I wouldn't expect to see a change anytime soon (imo).
I get wanting to stick with Daniels because of his legs, but if these are 50/50 games anyway, at least give me the dude that will throw the ball down the field. Nuss is going to take some chances.. but Daniels takes NO chances.

It was southern. He had two series I believe. Only had two pass plays, he was sacked on one and had a scramble of 10+ on 3rd or 4th and 13 or so
