Also getting inside the 5 yard line and not scoring isn’t a good thing.
That is what Coach said.
That is what Coach said.

to be fair, the first one was the result of the horse collar...
True but he still threw it after he was been dragged down backwards… I would think coaches would say don’t throw the ball in that situation. But maybe Nuss felt like it would be a free play

gave up 150 rushing yards on two runs / USC could not, and would not, throw the ball.

The triple option has and will always be hard to stop if you don't have plus LB play. I get it, let's stop what they do well...but it's not that easy. I agree with several of the replies...a few bounces of the ball on a few other plays would have turned this game into a blowout for LSU...but USCe was a good to really good team that we beat.

Meh, Kelly now has a proven record of leaving points on the field deep in the red zone. Coaching must improve there or we will never be a championship team.

On the whole, LSU's offense hasn't been bad. They have been situationally bad. Most glaringly in short yardage situations and in spots late in the game. Nussmeier has been really sharp for 3.5 quarters both against USC and SC. Then late the accuracy and decision making fails him. He threw is worst pass of the USC game on LSU's final drive where a good throw likely get's LSU a 1st down and allows them to drain the clock while having 4 chances at a game winning TD. His next pass was a rushed throw to Lacy, into double coverage, while he was falling backwards.
Last game LSU, down 33-29, get the ball back at the SC 24 by forcing a fumble. Nuss then misses his first pass, then throws an awful INT that should have been a (likely) game sealing pick 6 but for the dumb play of the DE. LSU gets the ball back and Nuss is off again. It look Lacy making a really good, extended catch along the sideline to get LSU in position on a below average throw by Nuss. Then, on 1st and goal, he throws an incredibly dangerous pass across his body into double coverage that could have been intercepted. He then misses and open Daniels in the corner of the endzone on the next play.
Because SC was one dimensional they essentially kept giving LSU chance after chance because they were no threat to put the game away. Down 30-29, LSU fumbles at their own 25. Because SC can't throw, they have to settle for a FG. LSU then can't convert on 3rd and 1, forcing a punt. Because SC has not QB they fumble deep in their territory. LSU promptly throws an INT. SC again can't throw and has to punt. That gave LSU their final what would be game winning drive.
A competent QB puts LSU away late. Hell, an incompetent QB damn near led a game tying drive. LSU failed to take advantage of an opportunity late vs USC and a competent QB did put them away there.

We haven’t seen a Brian Kelly team yet not get a lot better by the end of the season. They’ll get better.

New OC and new skill players. It will take time for the offense to move smoothly.
Teams routinely have new coaches and players. Getting them ready to go is what spring and fall practice is for.

We just need to score before getting into the redzone
Right. Melting is specifically over redzone offense & (lack of) utilization of Durham there.

I believe in Sloan, but he's learning too.
I’m hoping that’s the case. I posted another thread to see how he’s progressed, got some good responses. If he’s still learning and has UCLA, South Alabama, and a bye week to go over 5 games of film, we should look way better against Ole Miss.
What I can’t stand is “welp that’s just a problem we’ll have to live with til the off season.” frick that, these guys are making way too much money.

Literally no one said that was a good thing.
So are you highlighting it as a bad thing?
Are there a bunch of people saying that we have an awful offense or something? As of now, they are a pretty average offense.

Daniels spoiled this offense
Has nothing to do with Daniels. JD was in his second year with two first round receivers. This team has a first time starter QB, green receivers, a bad center, and a first time OC calling plays. Everything is different. They will get better and our goal line offense will too. Doesn't need to be a Heisman 5th year starter to make that happen.

Also had 2 pick 6’s called back. He can cherry pick all he wants to make himself feel better
Literally you cherry picking and "called back" because one wasn't a pick 6 it was caused by the foul.

true
but we did score 2/3 of the time we got within the 5.
2 yard pass to a Taylor
2 yard run by Williams
another 9 yards rushing Td and 12 yard pass gave us 4 redzone TDs in 6 trips.
not as bad as people act like it is.
it’s just frustrating to go for it on4th and goal and keep coming up short.

absolute melting that's going on about our offense at the moment.
I’m not melting about our offense. I’m very concerned, pissed off about, the coaching of that offense. And of the defense. And of the special teams.
And that lackluster coaching this season is rhyming with things we saw last season and the season before from CBK.
Now, I think CBK and this staff can (possibly) shore up the team’s performance before Ole Miss.
I am hoeful.

we need to get more creative with the run game. I believe in Sloan, but he's learning too.
Agreed - and if Nuss is never going to keep on read options there, I just don't see the sense in running them. We did do some creative things with motion guys I liked and I'd like to see more often.

3 games into last season and Saban's offense was so putrid he benched Milroe and it looked like the wheels were going to fall off at Bama. Why didn't Saban have his team ready in the spring and fall?

The play calling anytime we are inside the 15 has been atrocious.
