Did Etienne take a wrong turn on his way home in Jennings and wander into junior day in Baton Rouge, or was he possibly invited?

He couldn't have gone to LSU if he wanted, not until Orgeron offered him.

RB, you really don't get that Miles had him beneath other backs and didn't offer him? Really

Maybe you should read back through the thread before continuing. Just a tip.

Etienne was too sassy for LSU.

Those are duties of the RC. The HC decides to offer or not.

RC schedules and arranges visits

Miles didn’t prioritize for years, I don’t think anyone can argue otherwise. Orgeron offered only 4 weeks after being named head coach, another unarguable point. Clemson offered AFTER LSU, obviously offer timing wasn’t a factor to him. The attractiveness of a national championship team versus the chaos LSU went through with two seasons of Alleva trying to sack Miles is clear to see as well.

I agree with all of this which begs the question why do some feel the need to keep bashing Miles over this? He prioritized a higher ranked prospect, got fired, the higher ranked prospect signed with FSU, would Akers be here if Miles wasn’t fired? Who knows, doesn’t matter anyway. TE went with the hot team that just won the NC so the whole idea that he LSU blew it by not offering him sooner is either false or makes him look petty. I wouldn’t “blame” O for losing either because of the circumstances, overall he did a good job keeping that class together. I would say he was at fault for not having a better RB this season, but he corrected it by getting elite prospects this class, so no use crying over who Miles May have missed

Without the head coaches approval? So the recruiting coordinator invited Etienne to camp and scheduled visits after Miles told them not to recruit him?

Yeah, that's not how it works. Miles and the staff had etienne on their board, he just wasnt the priority.

ETA: Once Orgeron was hired, he and his staff had etienne on their board, and again, he wasnt the priority.

Theres only one poster arguing against this right now.

Etienne went to Clemson and it's a natural fit. I doubt There's really any blame to pass out.

I agree. Pointless thread

Unless your agenda is to start an argument that distracts from the fact that the might "unbeatable" alabama just got thrashed by a team with similar talent than us.

That we both gave up the same amount of points by half (even though Clemson scored 30 of their own and didn't go 3 and out consistently wearing down their defense)

and that its looking like a 14-1 alabama is prepared to make changes to correct its issues instead of saying "hey, we are 14-1," while LSU is doing that exact thing with "wow we won the fiesta and finished 6th for the first time since whatever and yall think we should make changes??"

Well, I know that two of those posters are the biggest hypocrites and liars on the rant. The other two, sometimes make decent points, in my opinion, but I usually take what they say with a grain of salt.

So, Les is fired. Travis is starting his senior year. O starts directing program and three months later O, the great recruiter, gets around to offering Travis. But Les is to blame when he picks Clemson in February. Some of you guys crack me up.

Don’t forget the part where Etienne is so angry about being second choice and getting a late offer that he chose to go to a school where he was second choice and got a late offer. Rant logic!!

Do you have any idea of how many kids LSU gets on campus? Yes, recruits without offers go on visits to LSU.

RC is organizational and logistical. HC decides who gets offers.

But who knows what was said when he was here, or really cares at this point

He's where he fits in very well.

What does any of this have to do with LSU's recruiting board? Are you seriously trying to make the argument that the head coach doesn't know who his recruiting coordinator is inviting to camps or who's having visits scheduled?

You can't be serious right now.

Sometimes you miss on guys. Does it suck? Yep. Am I going to give coaches slack? Probably not. But sometimes it just happens

This is what guys like him do, they take all responsibility away from the head coach so it’s impossible for him to be blamed for anything. People used to do this for Miles too and it’s the exact same tactic.

Absolutely not, that's just your paranoia

But yes, visits can be scheduled "without the HCs approval". Which was your question

Right. It was my paranoia that made you try and give the recruiting coordinator credit when I said Miles had Etienne on LSU's board.

Oh my god.. :rotflmao:

Why am I not shocked you went there?

RCs bring in a hundred kids or more, Gomez. Don't read more into it than exists

The retardation grows exponentially

is this what we're gonna claim is the reason we didn't beat Bama was now? not having the right running back?

Etienne is a great player no doubt but he had 10 rushes for 37 yards in the first 3 quarters. i doubt that wouldve been enough to get LSU the win over Bama
