t looked like to me our coaches decided to shorten the game(taking play clock down) while still running our offense

Which is exactly what every good coach does with a big lead.

So should Guice and Williams taken a knee before any of their long runs to work in more passing? As previously mentioned, Etling missed on a post pattern the second half's first drive

Five yard slants ain't gonna beat the big boys. Neither is a couple of missed bombs every game. If last year did not prove to you that running and ticky tack passes in the flat are going to lose the big games, nothing will.

We didn't run 5 yard slants last year.

Thanks for proving my point. All we do in the vertical passing game is throw bombs. Without a intermediate vertical passing game, we are staring last year in the face down the stretch.

I can't agree. We really just need to move the chains.
DE is smart on his feet short passes will work. He will start to connect on deeper throws.

Only fault I saw was DE needs to keep the ball occasionally on the read/option. The short passing game keeps the linebackers in check which opens up the running game. Chark is coming on and TE's are getting involved. Short passing game gets TE's and FB involved that is a lot for defenses to check.

Also short passing game keeps OL from holding as much. We connect on one long play (and they were open) and DE throws for 300 yards. Best offense I have seen for a while. Love the play calling.

Wasted a second half?

What game were you watching? Under Miles we would have gone totally conservative with a 21-0 lead and barely won the game. It was the thing I hated most about watching Les coached games. Last night we put them out of their misery in Q3 and kept executing the offense until the end.

Slants, five yard outs, its all the same. Ticky tack. We haven't thrown a touchdown pass in the red zone since I don't know when. And then, it was always a fade. We have no passing game in the middle of the field fifteen to twenty yards. Will come back to bite us. Miles never worked on this in blowouts, either. You see where that got him.

up a zillion points and not work on the intermediate vertical passing game?

Unlike when Miles was on the sideline, we actually passed the ball successfully and moved the chains doing so, we scored points in the 4th quarter for the first time (14x more points than we scored all year in the 4th quarter) and we never let up on our level of play.

We were so successful against an SEC team that you're complaining that we didn't "work" on stuff like we were playing Kent State or something.

Come on man. This is week one of the coaching staff without Miles and Cam. They can't re-invent the wheel in a week. Give them a chance and let's see how the season plays out. I for one was very happy with what I saw last night and am looking forward to the rest of the season.
