Chances are if you hire Aranda he brings Grimes with him.

Unsay that as an Aranda fan.

He’s smart and the players love him, but I’m wondering how he does as a HC with recruiting. He’s great in a living room but he isn’t a tireless pound the dirt kind of guy.

Raymond is the recruiting coordinator and probably stays on with the new HC. Aranda just needs to be the closer when guys get to campus.

Aranda isn't my first choice, but I wouldn't be mad at all bc he'll be steady.

I'm really interested in Matt Campbell as an option, but he won't come cheap. He just got a 4 mil per year new contract with Iowa St.

I think Arranda will be great one day, but it’s too early to hand him the keys to the LSU football program. What if Baylor loses to WV this Saturday? Would you still want Arranda then? Curious. Okay for you people downvoting. Seriously, what has Arranda done to give him the head coaching job here? Would really love to know.

I remember when LSU hired this guy from Michigan State with an average W/L record. Had nothing super spectacular on his resume. He did beat #1 Ohio State one year but still finished 6-6. He was pretty much a northeast/Midwest guy with nothing that would indicate he could recruit in the south. Not a sparkling personality either.

I honestly like Aranda better than any of the others mentioned on here not named Saban.

Saban went 9-2 his last year there which was pretty good at the time.

Word on the street is that Coach O will be fired at end of the season and possible replacements mentioned were/are Joe Brady, Vandy coach and/or Lane Kiffin. This comes from a TAF higher up...Only time will tell.

His overall at Mich. St. was something like 34-24. Pretty average.

He certainly wouldn't be at the bottom of my list.

I do too, but he is doing his own thing at Baylor now. He won't come back to LSU if they fire him 2 years after the national championship. No coach who values consistency would.

Any coach who knows they can outperform Ed (which is 99% of all coaches out there) wouldn’t compare their potential tenure at LSU to Ed’s.

That won't matter to a lot of coaches. It doesn't matter at Florida or Auburn and it won't matter at LSU. Plus the Big 12 will basically be a mid major once Texas and Oklahoma leave.

Maybe not, but it did enough to help win games. Also don't forgot how Aranda single handedly kept LSU afloat those last years with Les and first 2 years of Orgeron because our offense was putrid.
The defense saved Les' butt from 2009 on. A loss could be 17-14 and the Rant would scream about 3rd and Chavis.

well if you hand the defense a lead with 1:34 to go, at home, at night, you expect to win.

Dead wrong! His defense struggled because the offense scored too fast! Aranda was the glue holding the entire thing together!

This is poorly written, but Aranda knows what O is and likely the biggest factor why he left. I think he would come back. I recall a coaching symposium he spoke at a few years ago detailing the communication requirements it took for a coach to be effective with different players and the challenges it took to take it to the field, he is at another level than the vast majority of college coaches at the coordinator to HC levels.
