My top 8 going into conference tourneys would be: 1. Wake Forest 2. Florida 3. Arkansas 4. LSU 5. Stanford 6. Clemson 7. Vanderbilt 8. Virginia

I’d say the top 7 of those are pretty locked up now. The only question is whether a 3rd ACC team or someone like Coastal gets the final one.

I hate losing too but this was objectively a successful season and with Skenes we have an advantage in any 3 game series.

I get what you’re saying, but the season isn’t over yet. If we don’t make it to Omaha, I would have a hard time calling it a successful season. Also, just because we have Skenes doesn’t mean we have an advantage in any 3 game series.

Solo do you think we jump to the 3 or 4 spot with both Arkansas and UF losing their series?
Tough to say. Kentucky and Vandy are very good teams in their own right but I would say yes. Head to head vs Arkansas should could for something and we did beat Kentucky as well

That's fair. I should have said successful regular season.

Yes it does.

All I care about is if LSU gets a super , I don't give a shite about any other teams including the other SEC teams!

Sorry, this just doesn't make it. Don't you know?
LSU should bat around every other inning and no hit whatever team we play. LSU should NEVER have to play more than seven.

Who do these people think the committee will pick to represent national seeds?

LSU had a top 5 rpi
LSU has a top road record in SEC baseball play by a large margin at 12-5
LSU won 7/8 sec series in the best conference in America
LSU has a 17-11 quad1 record

Who can match that resume in the top 5? Much less top 8.

Arkansas can’t we beat them head up.

I’ll agree to that.

I won’t quite agree to this, I think it depends on the matchup. Skenes obviously give us a game 1 advantage, but even this past weekend we saw that it’s no guarantee. Game 2 will be a tossup based on the opponent. Game 3 we will likely be at a disadvantage, especially if Floyd isn’t able to go long in game 2.

Also Florida and Arkansas both loss their series this weekend. I think LSU gets the 3 overall seed right now. Maybe 2. If Florida or Arkansas win the sec tourney then it changes but LSU is 1000% locked in as a top 8 seed

Here's the thing -Floyd is pitching as good as any #2 in the country right now. I'll agree with you that one's a draw.

I guess it comes down to this - is it a bigger advantage for us having Skenes throwing Game 1 or a disadvantage with our day 3 starter issues?

I think Coleman's emergence could make a game 3 a push with anyone outside of Tennessee and Wake Forest.

I think in ANY 3 game series if you can win game 1 then you have a MASSIVE advantage because you can go all in on Game 2 and win the series like Florida did to us in 2017.

I agree with your logic but I think Skenes and that game 1 advantage is a bigger advantage than anyone else has in the country.

Maybe Tennessee has an argument because their staff is so deep and they have Dollander but our lineup is better than theirs.

I think we’re mostly on the same page. Skenes obviously gives us the game 1 advantage. Game 2 is probably a push. Game 3 obviously being the biggest question mark. While I agree Coleman has looked good, if he can only go 3 innings, that could put us in a spot against someone like Caglianone. I think much of game 3 would depend on how far Skenes and Floyd can go in games 1 & 2. There are going to have to be some bullpen guys that can put together strong back to back days, which worries me.

Agreed

I agree but I think they're ramping him up and I expect him to extend to 80-90 pitches in the supers and if we're in Omaha I think all chains off and he goes 100+ pitches if needed

100% man. If Floyd gets shelled and pulled in the 2nd then we're fricked but I think everyone intnhe country is dealing with that Potential except Tennessee because of their depth.

Oh yeah. St some point one of these guys is going to have to have an outstanding outing: Hurd, Guidry, Herring and Cooper.

I just pray we never have to go to Little.

If they are able to make this happen, I’ll feel a whole lot better about our postseason chances in general.

They may want him to do that, but outing after outing his velocity falls off after 30-40 pitches. One of the primary reasons they lost yesterday was trying to stretch him further leading to a 3-run 4th inning. I don’t fault Johnson for trying to stretch him out, but it is another example of how every decision he makes isn’t necessarily designed to win the game at hand.
