Very rarely does LSU not recruit someone because of grades
His grades weren’t an issue

PM did a very poor job with recruiting his last 5 years here. Take a look at this roster today and tell me he did a good job. PM was lazy and missed on several recruits.

He was 5’10” and 150lbs throwing mid 80’s. He’s developed into a really good pitcher but LSU had higher recruits.

He wasn't an SEC prospect coming out of high school. That's why he is at Southern Miss and not another SEC school. Southern Miss has a really good pitching coach that can develop players. That's why they have the 2nd best staff in the country, not because they were stealing recruits from LSU.

Go look at the guys they did recruit that year and then look at him coming out of high school.
Now some of those LSU got have not worked out but if you just looking at high school projecting their future it’s easy to see why Hall went to Southern Miss.

They still recruited well they just did a terrible job of roster management.
That’s still not why they didn’t recruit Tanner Hall. They didn’t recruit him because he wasn’t seen as a SEC prospect.

They didn’t recruit a SEC pitcher in their own backyard because Paul was told he should, but he’s now an unemployed idiot.

It seems to me LSU never seeks to recruit the diamond in the rough. They always go for the more polished player. Being LSU you have that luxury, but it seems LSU doesn’t do a good job of development of the arms they have. Hopefully this new coaching staff will solve that issue.

Player development is key. You don't build depth without it.

He did't know Kramer was Kim Mulkey's son.
He had no clue Herman Johnson was the biggest baby born in Louisiana.

Are you calling Tanner Hall a SEC pitcher. You do know that he in fact does not pitch in the SEC right?
He’s really good and was a miss in recruiting. My point is just if you look at his high school profile it’s easy to see why LSU had better players they could get.

Because he was the 18th ranked pitcher in the state coming out of High School and maybe ranked around 400.

That's why. Some kids develop in college

Tanner started out pretty unremarkable. Was not highly recruited and was not even considered as a possible weekend starter through the end of last year. He came into game 6 of the regional against Ole Miss last year and put together a performance similar to the one last night by Storm. They hit his sinker into the dirt all night long. He wasn’t even our Friday night guy to start the year - it was Ben Ethridge. We still didn’t even know for sure that Tanner would stick as a weekend starter. But he has commanded a nasty sinker and unfair changeup that has led to his success. It’s just one of those scenarios where a guy really honed in on his craft to maximize on his ability.

I’m not saying this why they didn’t recruit Hall but In baseball recruiting grades are a big deal. You need them to have good grades so you can supplement the lack of a full scholarship with academic scholarships. The more of those you can get the less of the athletic scholarship you can offer to save for other players.

Same question were asked about Amik Robertson the CB for La Tech that went in the 2nd round of the NFL draft a few years ago.
There are only so many spots available. LSU can’t take every kid. Fans would lose their collect shite if we took diamonds in the rough. For every tanner hall there are 100 diamonds in the rough that don’t make it.

LSU's 2020 Class had...
Dylan Crews (13th nationally)
Ty Floyd (28th nationally)
Jordan Thompson (53rd nationally)
Tre Morgan (220th Nationally)
Etc...
Our worst rated prospect was Will Stafford and he was still higher than Hall
