Says their statement was not made in retaliation to the tro. It was simply a statement made directly from the sec constitution and the constitution is much older than this tro. Sec did not violate a court order but simply reiterated their constitution because that's what they were asked to do by all 16 members. A new rule was not created.

Fact or someone trying to cover their tracks?

What you fail to understand is that the same people that hate us have always hated us. frick them. They think we’re backwoods idiots and don’t understand our culture.

This hill is worth defending if only for the principled right of these Americans to make a living. We have been getting the short end of the stick from these jackasses forever because they think/know they can crush us.

The commissioner got up there and admitted he didn’t know about the 5 for 5. Are we supposed to be scared of this ignorant/disingenuous fig?

we’re dying on the hill for over two backup players that couldn’t make NFL rosters.

Just for the record, Harris was 1st Team All-SEC, Wright 2nd Team.

I will never take a position for them again. If the Sankey mafia gets this pushed through it will be worse than the NCAA being in charge.

Don’t take it personal. If Saban were at Bama pushing the training camp players to return to Bama we’d be pulling for Sankey as well. Fandom trumps coherent legal thought.

No. In fact that is what my entire opinion on this situation is based on.

There is no planet on which winning this battle in court and having these two guys on the team is worth the petty vindictiveness that would follow for years. It just isn’t. The only reason anyone on this site feels differently is because it’s LSU.

Wouldn’t a ruling in favor of the players against the SEC/NCAA effectively lay out a basis of protection for potential future arguments where LSU has standing over those matters?

This is already clear institutional bullying. Why lay down and take it without a fight?

quote:

This isn’t the hill. They have a colorable and reasonable distinction between us and Texas etc. it may be stupid but they can state it. It isn’t “baseless”.

Is a contract something that can be used in a way to avoid the same punitive action by a 501(c)3 organization that is being used against a different member, especially if the rules are entirely unclear (and under oath, admittedly unknown) by the leader of that organization?

quote:

correct. The entire football world is telling us to stop. Why we don’t, I don’t know.

Did you never learn about “peer pressure” and how it can enable negative social constructs?

quote:

Even Texas Tech listened when everyone told them stop over Soresby despite a chance they could win in court.

They accepted the smear campaign against their school and gave up.

I don’t speak for everyone hear, but I am proud of the school I support for standing up against shoddy institutions selectively penalizing and smearing member entities that are there voluntarily and don’t HAVE to be a party to their BS. Especially considering the revenue LSU brings to the SEC table.

Affect change when it makes sense. It makes sense to more than just LSU right now to die on this hill. This is a potentially a monumental moment in the history of college athletics, and already is momentous in the history of the most powerful sports conference within that sphere.

At some point the National Football League is going to enter the fray here to protect their turf as this is not good for their brand and could undermine professional football if the Universities formally become professional leagues. Think of all the triple majors and Doctors and prospective PHD doctorate students LSU will have on the field in five years.

I don't know that there are winners for today. But, Sankey needs to be accountable for his testimony today and this whole charade that they're putting on to cover up their own incompetence.

This is a one time issue really, none of the others would have as compelling of a case as this particular class. The NFL has already spoken out against the players doing this by implementing rule preventing them from participating this season or reentering the draft

It’s in total nonsense and everyone involved would be better off walking away.

Not really sure why I bother, but here goes...

have you given any thought to the 14 other players this could affect as well as others that have yet to consider playing at least a few more snaps because they couldn't cut it in the NFL currently? Have you ever suited up, and felt what's its like to walk off a field for the last time?
I hope the current 16 win and those opposing it have to pay ALL legal fees.

They have no standing on “amateur” athletes.
