Tony Clayton and his team are setting up. Sankey and his team are also setting up. Liz and her team are present. There is a large law enforcement presence in courtroom who will be monitoring cell phone usage and have already announced no usage of phones, laptops etc will be allowed so I'll updates if I can.

UPDATE at 8:04 pm:
Judge is signing to prevent the NCAA and sec from taking any action that would prevent these players from playing

Read updates as they occurred below...

Jason Williams is the first to speak. Saying that the situations of all parties are not the same and cases shouldn't be combined.

SEC should not have to litigate with parties who never participated in sec

Judge is showing sec to move forward only defending against sec related parties

Case is moving forward today with that understanding

Ncaa will defend against other parties

Ncaa attorney

These athletes last completed under 25/26 manual and exhausted eligiblity under that manual. New does not apply because they never completed under new rules.

New rules are prospective and not retrospective

Asked sankey about 91 basketball overseas pros who are allowed to play in ncaa.

Sankey said they played overseas for clubs and other things that may not specifically be professional leagues.

Sankey also said he does not know the definition of pro for those players

Sankey Said he isn't aware of any particular players situation and it's not an issue about being a pro athlete but he thinks that if a player moves on then they have made their choice and should not be able to come back.

Last question Clayton asked was "do you hate LSU" Williams objected and there was no answer

It seems this current attorneys focus is going on the direction of the sec saying that they would not play LSU. He's using examples of former g League players that played for Louisville and Baylor and the sec did not refuse to play those teams.

He is also bringing up those former g League players who have been allowed to play in ncaa but Sankey is saying that is not the sec

He was brought up. Sankey said that he went through the process to remove his eligibility as soon as possible because he wasn't comfortable with it

Sankey was talking about a policy and realized he was saying too much. He said "let me stop helping you. I'll stop with that" I can't quote exactly what he was saying. It was about a policy in the manual, but this shows his agenda.

Second attorney is finished. He did a great job showing bylaws and in the NCAA bylaws he clearly showed how these players should be eligible to play based on the 5 for 5 rule. He got Sankey to admit that the bylaws show that and made Sankey say that he and the sec will follow those bylaws.

I'm mostly paraphrasing and putting quotes in quotes.

Currently the attorney for the Vanderbilt player is questioning. He questioned several times about will Vanderbilt be punished if the judge rules in his favor they allow this player to play.

Sankey danced around question and his attorney objected. The question had to asked and danced around/objected to at least 5 times.

Then judge said "I get what you're trying to ask and I see that he is not going to answer, but I understand his answer. He is going to follow the rules and the bylaws until the point that he is not going to follow them anymore"

Sankeys attorney has been questioning him for a while. Line of questioning is focused around how this will ruin the future of college football if teams are allowed to recruit players cut by the NFL as well as players who will be cut from their college teams and replaced by these NFL players.

We know that both of those points are wrong, but that's the direction the Sec is taking.

Should have clarified. Done with that witness.

Sankey is off the stand. I think the judge could easily see through everything he was saying and all the dancing that he was doing. First athlete is on the stand now. A female athlete from LSU. They will soon be taking a break to eat.

This might not finish until 8:00 tonight or later at the rate it's going.

Sankey may be called back to the stand after the athletes are finished. I'm not sure if all 12 athletes here will testify or just a few of them.

Bediako was brought up. Sankey said he followed court procedures to remove bediakos eligibility because he did not agree with it from the beginning.

No particular football athlete was brought up. Sankey did say he does not consider mini camp participation to be professional but he does consider training camp participation as making a football player a professional.

Judge is taking a recess until 6.

Will allow attorneys to say what they want to say when he comes back and I'm assuming his ruling will come after that.

Attorneys giving their summation. Players attorneys going first. He's laying out examples of players who have played professionally and earned up to 1.1 million in basketball and the NCAA still allowed them to come back and play. Also going over players who have played football for more than 5 years. Reviewing redshirt rules and medical redshirts that have played more than 5 years.

Attorney says the sec has never gone away from the NCAA on eligibility and shouldn't be able to do it now.

Also says that if an sec school can't control their fans, and the fans storm the field, then the school gets fined. Therefore, if the sec can't follow an order from the judge then the sec should get fined.

Tony Clayton's turn. He adopted statements made by previous attorney.

He brought up the statement by the sec about punishing teams that play NFL players and said that is a punishment for these players in reaction to the court's order.

He brought up the Alabama lawsuit and said that is a punitive lawsuit intended to diminish this judges order.

A few more points he made but that's the jist of it.

Ncaa attorney says the players received their manual when they played and under that manual they exhausted their eligibility.

The new manual says the 5 for 5 rule is prospective not retrospective. These players exhausted their eligibility before the 5 for 5 rule existed.

Brought up the basketball players mentioned one from Louisville and another one and says we can't rewrite the rules based on two players. The rules about professional players would have to be rewritten. Lists many other rules that would have to be rewritten.

Judge interrupted and says "well technically I wouldn't have to do none of that"

Attorney says well you have to use the examples they gave and those examples are not clear. You have to show how the NCAA made those decisions and they didn't do that.

A private association can set their own rules and that's what has been done. As members of the institution they have to follow those rules.

These players are better people because they have gone through this system but their eligibility is over. You can't give them someone else's spot

Judge interrupted again saying that when he was a freshman he took a seniors spot and that putting seniors on a team doesn't mean that they will automatically take someone's spot.

Ncaa says well these are all good players and they will take someone's spot.

Ncaa says there are courts who have ruled in their favor and this judge should too.

Says you can't just go to the court's to change rules of a private institution just because you don't like them.

Sec is up

Says it comes down to the question can the 16 university agree to the standards of their conference. LSU was present at the last meeting and agreed to the standards that the sec wants to uphold.

The announcement to punish schools has nothing to do with individual players. This hearing is about the players not the schools. Sec has not threatened to punish any individual players.

Says their statement was not made in retaliation to the tro. It was simply a statement made directly from the sec constitution and the constitution is much older than this tro. Sec did not violate a court order but simply reiterated their constitution because that's what they were asked to do by all 16 members. A new rule was not created.

Says Clayton jefferies is so fun to watch because he tries to create every advantage, but this is an advantage that we can't allow. We can't allow certain schools to accept former pros when other schools can't. We can't allow schools to scout training camps and recruit guys as soon as they're cut. That's not a fair advantage for all 16 members of the conference

Sec says these players knew that going pro would end their college career. It's always been that way. Going pro ends your college career.

The members are bound by the rules. Lsu is a voluntary member of this conference and are bound by the rules of the conference. Changing the rules now doesn't just affect the players in this case. That affects every single player in this conference.

Ncaa eligibility rules have survived every appellate court to date.

Says this judge doesn't need to solve all of college sports. His job is to decide if going to professional sports ends their ability to participate in collegiate sports.

The opportunity of these athletes does matter, but they aren't the only ones whose opportunity matters. There are high school kids who deserve this opportunity that these players have already had.

That is why all 16 universities agreed to these rules. The rules have not changed. What changed is that someone has decided to test the line.

Sec is finished with their arguments

Plaintiff rebuttal

This is not about testing the line. The line is not clear between pro and amateur. If the line is so clear then why can't they explain it?

College baseball and softball teams can play exhibitions against pro players. You allow overseas pros to participate in college. G League players are allowed to participate in college. Other examples are given...

These athletes did not make millions. None of them made any real money. One of them got 20k and some of them received a few hundred dollars.

Judge interrupted and said if they voluntarily left and were ultimately cut they knew that this was a possibility of their actions

Attorney says well it's an argument of old rules vs new rules. Under the old rules players were given red shirts and more years but to make it easier let's look at the new rule.

An individuals eligibility gives them 5 years from enrollment or 5 years from their 19th birthday. All of these players are less than 5 years from their 19th birthday. They made these rules and wrote these rules and under their rules these players should be eligible

No other rebuttal. Matter has been submitted to the judge. He will come back with ruling

Cited jones b ncaa

Said he was sceptical of what the players were trying to do especially since it's being done so late in the game.

The distinction of what's professional and what's not makes no sense. College facilities are as good as it better than NFL.

I got $190 is that professional? I got a $25k contract but in college I got six figures. What is a professional?

I was skeptical but then something happened. Y'all brought up rule 12.6. Sankey said it himself the rules did not say that these players are excluded.

Good on talking about different things

He did find that there are some damages.

He is signing to prevent the NCAA and sec from taking any action that would prevent these players from playing
