Not if you do your job well and follow procedure.

It's when you start doing dumb shite it gets bad.

Agreed. I think if OU wasn't going to the SEC LSU would have a good shot at getting him.

I like freeze, fickell, and napier.

I'd put lincoln riley in the top 3 if i thought lsu could pull him.

How is riley not in your top 3?

Many LSU fans have an inferiority complex from a lifetime of hearing how sucky Louisiana is. But the LSU job is the best job in all of college football. LSU pays as well as anyone, is surrounded by the highest talent density in the country, and has a great fan base. LSU can get almost any head coach they want, short of one who is happily engaged already.

This is not true.

What happened last time the spot was up for grabs?

This has less to do with “toxic” situations and much more to do with program potential. In their current states, the LSU program is in a much better situation due to current talent level, in-state talent pool vs in-state competition, the draw of the SEC, etc. Plus, if Ed O can win a title here, any coach worth a damn believes they can, too. Meanwhile, USC has been a dumpster fire since Pete Carrol left.

Keep thinking small like that! That's the reason we are in the situation we are in now. Riley will never win a Natty at Oklahoma. LSU is a better job than Oklahoma, Bafoons,(Miles and O),have won Natty's at here. OU last won a Title in 2000, Saban's first year here. LSU has won 3 since then under 3 different coaches.

Coming to the SEC is great but you still have to recruit kids to Norman. which could be hours away because OU doesn't have the built in recruiting base that LSU has.

Riley is making $6.15 per year, we are paying O $7.8 not saying it will happen but don't dismiss it as an after thought.

Probably not.

Because he has to get his team up for 2 or 3 games a year and still drops a game to inferior teams every year.

I would put him above Napier and Aranda but below Freeze, Fickell and Campbell. I think what Matt Campbell has done at Iowa State is more impressive than what Riley has done at OU.

There was never a search. Aleeva took the easy way out. And even THAT resulted in a national championship. That makes the job even more attractive than it was at that time.

Alleva thought he had everyone’s #1 in the bag, but that guy’s alma mater came calling and Alleva panicked.

IMO Woodward won’t put all his eggs in one basket, and he won’t panic if something derails the top choice(s). He will conduct a thorough search, whittle his list down to 3-4 names and have a plan if his #1 choice doesn’t work out. Alleva had no real plan after Herman.

Because they realize LSU will be in a pretty good spot to be able to bounce back quickly. Fix the o-line and that alone will be a huge boost.

I think we’ll get a good, but not great coach. Just like with Jay Johnson.

LSU is very much at risk. Two years ago, LSU was absolutely without question a top program in all facets.

Now, with NIL and a changing landscape of transfers which can diminish natural recruiting advantages, it is absolutely imperative to make a huge hire.

Woodward is known for making big hires. The situation calls for a huge hire. I think LSU spends a TON of money to land a proven coach.

If LSU misses on this hire, LSU could very well become a Tennessee. And, it will be a LONG road back to the top tier of college football.

Expect LSU to offer #1 money to a guy like Lincoln Riley. I don't know that it will be Riley. But, I expect LSU to try and make a huge splash.

With the budget, talent, recruiting, and fame why wouldn’t anyone want it?

it’s funny that most of the rant thinks that would be a bad hire

Because you'll have to hire a very expensive D Coordinator to pair with Riley. That's the only way Riley will work in the SEC.

That's the way ANYONE will work in the SEC. I think LSU has proven that the last 2 seasons.
