Ed Orgeron on @OTB_ESPN says Joseph Evans is moving to center. Chasen Hines would start if the season was today, but Evans is right behind him. #LSU

gotta admit, didn't see that one coming. I thought Evans would be a factor and in the 2 deep on the DL given he showed some flashes as a true freshman. He's def got the athleticism to play the position.

Surprised at this, too.
Says something for Evans' athleticism and attitude for this to happen.

Spring ball is all about experimenting with guys at different positions. What better way to see if the guy can play center than have him go against one of the best d lines in the spring. If he can hold his own then it can be permanent. If not you can just move him back to d line.

I’m all about this. Les miles didn’t move players around enough imo. When Saban was here, he’d try guys at all kinds of positions until he found his best group.

Does anyone know how much Charles Turner is weighing these days?

That doesn’t sound good for Charles Turner. He’s still young though so, keep hope alive

Evans is a very intelligent young dude. He is capable of handling that aspect of the position.

Didn't he want to play TE and got skinny to try that? How's that working out for him?

You’re thinking of Parker.

Charles just wasn’t very heavy

I think this means several things:

1) We have a ton of DT depth.
2) They don’t trust Turner to be the primary backup yet
3) They may not think we can already just pencil in Kardell Thomas at a starting G spot opposite Ingram. May Be hoping Evans wins the Center job so they can move Hines back to G and backup C.

It could just mean the coaches think Evans projects better at center and are going to give it a try.

Charles was too light to play center and they did try him at TE and he even ran TE drills during camps before he committed. He's kind of stuck in that tweener category right now.

I saw him at the team hotel around the time of the OU game, and man that dude looked small for an OL. again, he's young though.

on the other hand, Devonta Lee is a big dude.

Roster lists him as 6-2 288.

Hope this changes.

He didn’t intentionally lose weight to be a TE though. He just was always going to need time to develop.

He needs to either be LB or OLB/S hybrid.

Don’t count out Bradford as a starting guard. Brooks Kubena did his projections for the offense and defense in The Advocate today and has Bradford listed as a starter.
