Not sure about that, probably should be unless the remaining losses are close games to Bama, and 2 other ranked SEC schools. Maybe even stays with 8 if one of the wins is Bama.
That being said, I think this is his last year and doubt it is a voluntary step down.

Agreed, I don't think it's really necessary to break it down into certain numerical wins. It's obvious to anyone that the program is not headed in the right direction and that O lacks the ability to correct it.

Yet was the main one pumping him up for Pomansky everyday the year he took off from coaching and was all in on the hiring in the first place

I think if it was just about wins and losses, 8 wins would be ok (though a disappointment considering the talent on the team) considering that LSU was just on the mountain top in the best way imaginable in 2019 and LSU had the most opt-outs on top of losing the most talent of any national champion in the playoff era. But it's the stuff off the field that could play into the mix. When you're not meeting expectations on the field, you better not be having off-the-field distractions (and your hires better look like they good potential).

There are a lot of issues, I think some are bigger than O. Like the Emery stuff, that is out of his realm, that is not handled by the HC. Tons of people had to fail on that end, for this to occur. The public relations stuff over the past 1.5 years is all on O, and he needs to reign himself in, which he seems incapable of doing. Roster management is a huge issue as well, but frick man, isn't that part of the reason Austin Thomas is here. With all the support the LSU football program has, and I don't mean fans, I am talking about from the university, there is no reason why this program should be in the shape it is in. Many aspects of the program need a complete overhaul. It is going to have to be the type of change that occurred when Saban first came here.

Not an Orgeron fan at all, but In fairness to Ed, if he can get THIS team to turn it around and get to 9 wins, he deserves to keep his job.
That said, at this point I don’t see any scenario where this team wins more than 6 games and it will take lots of improvement just to get there.
