Johnny Jones must have let some Lee Begley type of shite get him twisted like Keith Sweat. He looked like he was fresh out of fricks to give.

Because nobody jumps on the hate wagon faster than LSU fans - truth be damned.

He’s definitely a terrible coach but he had nothing to do with this “scandal” although that word hardly describes what happen with TQ and Martin. All smoke not much fire, just another witch hunt spawning from the Louisville deal.

Not to defend Johnny, because I dont feel like dealing with it today, but his record says otherwise.
Jones was a good recruiter, so on talent alone Jones won some games.

But if you paid any attention at all, it was plain to see that he was a horrific head coach.

every big-time school has rabid (and sometimes over-the-top) fans.

It's not anything unique to LSU.

Kragthorpe4heiman!!!!!! Coach Jones did not pay Quarterman. An agent who has no ties to Johnny or LSU paid him.

I don't mind "rabid". But this is just another stupid-arse thread started because of hate rather than fact or even opinion. It was started by someone who doesn't have the first clue of the issue.

Never said he was or wasnt, but recruiting is part of being a head coach. Also was just commenting on the original post. There have been coaches with much worse records than what Jones had at LSU.

Brett Favre got Hallman the LSU job and he wasn't very good. I watched Mike Archer age incredibly under the LSU microscope and I remember Gerry DiNardo say the reason he didn't pass while losing to Auburn was because he wanted to win the time of possession. Rich Rodriguez was offensive coordinator at Tulane during their miracle 12-0 regular season saying on WWL he would crawl on glass to coach as OC at LSU. In which DiNardo said, "I don't need a young whippersnapper to tell me how to run my offense." I remember the hard times at LSU when 9-4 would have been like a great thing. Johnny Jones? Sloppy play. I hate lazy, no defense, sloppy basketball play.

yes

Not even the worst basketball coach in the last decade while at LSU, much less the worst coach.

I honestly would love to hear chinhoyang’s opinion on this shite.
I am confident that Coach Jones had no involvement in any activity which violates the NCAA rules (and nothing I've read suggests otherwise).

If he was involved, I would be pissed. One thing LSU can be proud of is that LSU coaches, in every sport, have conducted themselves in an honorable manner.

This tidbit in no way exonerates him from being the shittiest coach we've ever had.

I said a week ago that I wasn't going to discuss Coach Jones' coaching abilities any more.
