I've said this all along. Tennessee can and will match/beat any offer brought to the table. However, we have no idea how he truly feels about his situation there or how he views the potential situation at LSU.

He was partially responsible for TCU and Arkansas recent runs.....I’d say he has an idea about building a roster

Also, I know for a fact Peterson posts on this board or has in the past. So I'm sure he's reading this.

If you are John, please stop. You're unlikeable and full of shite. And even in the very, very slight chance it is true, please don't share that shite publicly. That is how deals get ruined.

Tagging Vitello is a douche thing to do. In general though almost everything from the OTOP people is pretty douchey desperate for attention. They are going to burn every “source” they think they have and is probably why they have been wrong on everything. Likely being used to sniff out the leaks.

Did he seriously tag Vitello? Cmon man.

Scott trying to work under the radar and JP goes and blows it up with this.

JP and OTOP are really starting to piss me off. They are trying so hard to troll Moscona that they are putting literally anything out there to appear like breaking news “journalists.”

Hey guys…STFU YOU ARE GOING TO RUIN THIS FOR US!!!!

You dolts have no information and even if you do, then you’re still taking a leaf blower to any smoke woody is trying to put out.
Shut up and enjoy the show like the rest of us. Tagging TV in that post is the kind of Joe Alleva stuff that blew up the Jimbo deal.

ETA: Delete that tweet immediately

I don't think TV is coming here but it's a bit more complicated than that. TN can't write a blank check on the back of their baseball program.

LSU brings in more in ticket sales on a week night game against Southeastern than TN did at their super regional games. Now TN could mortgage the future, pay TV top 5 money, and hope to grow the program/facilities which is what I think will ultimately happen but it is not an easy decision.

It’s like this board sets itself up to be disappointed. It’s going to be Jay Johnson.

DVH and Schlossnagle were doing it before and after his stints at those programs. Not saying he didn't help or pick up anything from those guys, but I think they would've done fine without him.

It is a big plus on his resume to have worked under those guys though. That's for sure.

Again, I don't hate the hire, but it is objectively a much higher risk than someone like McDonnell IMO.

I think I'd rather Godwin as well.

Tagging TV isn’t a BelowPar move.

Word has it that Vitello was offered last night. $2.1mm.... He could possibly be available at 5 pm tonight. LFG @TonyVitello2

let's say this were true, is Peterson trying to sabotage the deal? Vitello would be forced to walk away if it comes out he's negotiating terms while his team is in the CWS.

belowpar pre-dates Peterson by a long way.

And Peterson absolutely never had the connections or sources to scoop shite belowpar did. I think he was high in TAF or an attorney for TAF or something.

We also don't know how he'll do with longer term roster management or staff selections.

He has a pretty incredible network of coaches he's worked with or played with or knows from the recruiting trail.

He was a candidate at Mizzou when they hired their current guy. His pitching coach would have been Matt Hobbs (Arkansas pitching coach, on Tony's rec), and his other assistant would have been Jayce Tingler (Padres manager). They were all teammates at Mizzou.

He hired Frank Anderson because they built a relationship on the recruiting trail when they were both going after Kevin Kopps.

He also has a ton of connections in athletic departments around the country because the time he spent as a player and assistant coach at Mizzou spawned a ton of athletic directors and assistant athletic directors all over the country (not dissimilar to our run that produce Woodward and Radokovich, etc).

He will be fine building a staff.

Yeah, but it's close. I think Vitello's young punk schtick also carries some risk. He's very much like Will Wade in that regard, but his players seem to act that way as well. And I know you love Will Wade.

Godwin has an even better pedigree than Vitello and I love his history as an elite hitting coach (and recruiter).

Wouldn't be mad with either.

ETA:

Downvoters can't seem to comprehend my whole message. I'd be fine with Vitello, he's got a crazy high ceiling. I'm just saying it objectively has more risk than other guys.

How colossally stupid to tag Vitello. This kind of stuff is why we can never have nice things.
