I think that was maybe an option, but the hand off dwfinirot was too.

letting that DE go free makes
me thing it was a read option.

if it was a pass Dellignher should have at least given him
more of a shove.

way to big of a risk of him just smoking Nuss if it’s a designed pass.

So who gets blame for Jackson even being in the game?

We can’t say for sure, but Frank oversees the RB rotation during the game.

I think we would have normally seen Durham there, but he was obviously still a step slow Saturday. But I’m not sure why Williams wouldn’t have been in there instead.

Two elite plays that won an SEC game we weren’t favored in and trailed for the duration of.

Yeah I can't imagine having dislocated toes (Durham) and trying to walk much less run and cut etc

ETA: the On3 guys made it sound like the play wasn’t an option, but was designed to go to Thomas. But if it was an RPO, then it was Nuss’ fault.

For all the talk about our offense not being “creative,” running a fake (or RPO) power read into a shovel pass behind the center is pretty fricking exotic.

If it was designed to go to Thomas all the way, then that’s a pretty major frickup on a gadget play that you might never run again.

I’m not convinced Thomas converts it either but I guess it was 4th & 2 so he didn’t need much.

It wasn’t good for the first 3 drives vs Ole Miss, or early vs South Carolina

We had several slow starts under Denbrock as well. Maybe that factor transcends the OC?

First play for the OM game was a 7 yard run. Then it seemed like we abandoned the run for a while.

Sometimes his play calls may be the right thing to do but the players aren't always executing. Nuss missed a few opportunities to run, had some guys break open or have 1v1 that he just missed.

Its not all on Sloan.

His play calling against Ole Miss was bad

I had some questions here and there, but I'll give you one example of why it's not always what you think - one play he threw downfield and my BIL said "that was a bad play call". But I said - you know, he didn't have to throw to that receiver, he's not a one read QB.....he has options and there may have been a better one.....he may have made the wrong read.

We don't know what was called, we don't know if the QB audibled, we don't know if the QB made a bad read, or if the right play was called and a kid went the wrong way or missed a block or any of those things.

I think he's a serviceable OC and could be really good if he dialed in better RZ schemes.
