William Sherman was also the first superintendent of LSU.

Yeah, it's a super small world - I just texted a cousin of his. My family was very close friends with his sister-in-law's family.

I get the joke, but let's please not paint that Tyrant, Sherman, as some kind of heroic figure. Regardless of how anyone "feels" about the so-called "civil" war, there was no reason for him to burn an entire city. There's really nothing funny about that.

Never forget the first president of LSU was William Tecumseh Sherman....The first time I walked into the Library and saw a big painting of a Yankee general, I thought WTF...and then someone told me the story of him resigning in 1859 to become a Yankee general and his students resigned at the same time to fight for the south..........

IDK - I would ask his cousin if she replies, but I think he's been distant since he moved away. I've had way more indirect contact with his brother than him since that picture was taken (FORTY YEARS AGO).

Actually this is what I wanted but the subject line is too short. The ambiguity makes for a better thread though

Yea might get a few downvotes on this board. They miss slavery.

I'm glad you find it amusing that some guy burned a city because he felt like it.

You just made a bad reach for an Ohio native reference. Don't blame me for that.
