re: Joe Alleva: “it was a great year for LSU football, considering what all experts expected”

What are/were HIS expectations?

I have never met Mr. Alleva but I will say this. He seems to be someone who is easily impressed by the mundane.
He chooses the path of least resistance.
Joe Alleva is probably a nice and friendly man but I think LSU needs someone with heavier balls and an over abundance of testosterone.

Joe should reject this relativist barometer for the program. It is fricking nihilism. The barometer should be championships. Joe doesn't have the stomach to compete at that level and is simply engaging in the soft bigotry of lowered expectations. It is sad. LSU went from a BCS mainstay to SEC West also-ran. That isn't meeting or exceeding expectations in my view.

This is hilarious.
So because our expectations were so low based on hiring a fricking DL coach to be your HC, exceeding that equals success.
Dear fricking lord, end it now.
Exactly!
In 2015 LSU was #2 in the CFP polls going into the Alabama game. They lost that game, plus the two after, to give them 3 losses on the season. At the conclusion of what would have been LSU's 9th win that year if the McNesse game wasn't cancelled, Miles is carried off the field in his "last game" because a 3 loss season wasn't good enough.
NOW, virtually the same results are "great" largely because of the fact preseason expectations were so low due to Joe's handpicked HC being given zero credibility by the national media.
It wasn't a "great" year. It was a good year, but one that shows, yet again, LSU as a program has not made any progression since Miles was fired. The best thing you can say about O is that he's managed to keep the parking brake locked instead of letting the car wildly roll backwards downhill. That doesn't mean O should be fired, but I would HOPE the expectation from the AD are higher 4th place in the SEC

9-2-1 in regulation, what more do y’all want? Sheesh
Posted on 12/4/18 at 2:36 pm to AshLSU
LSU really does have very incompetent AD leadership and is going nowhere fast

Great News, Comrades!
Our Fearless Leaders have led us to success once again by exceeding all expectations set by our Fearless Leaders!

A more challenging issue is whether the Dept. intentionally delivered the message to these so-called "experts" that we were a 7-5 program in 2018 so as to soften expectations from the jump...
Of course they did. Remember this article by Ron Higgins a month and a half before the season?
LSU football will require infinite patience this season
I mean its O and Ponamsky we are dealing with here. One used to negative recruit the frick out of LSU and Les, the other is a fricking crook felon POS. They are here for the paycheck and they fooled our idiotic Athletic Director by pushing this "we will suck" narrative in order to get an extension. Just frick the entire leadership at LSU. frick them all.

I imagine Expectations were based on returning starters bunch. We didn’t have many iirc.

Answered that one when he gave Miles last extension. “It’s not about winning championships it’s about being in the hunt for them”

You know, I could concoct any number of insults, four-letter, compound or any option in between. I could curse at Alleva, use his name in a creative way, make up a nickname for him, etc...
I just find myself reading this and thinking, "Joe Alleva is a doofus."
That's it. This simple man deserves a simple insult. He's a doofus.

Joe Goldbricker Alleva is just coasting, that's why he knew so well that Hat was coasting.
Mark Twain Paraphrase: HE KNOWS SO WELL BECAUSE HE'S BEEN THERE ALL ALONG OR BEFORE!!!
When LSU is rid of Alleva and King, then problems will be solved.

This wasn’t supposed to be a rebuild.
The offense and passing game were certainly rebuilds. Les may have had talented wide receivers and running backs, but the QB was more often than not a poor to horrible passer and the offense regularly had delay of game penalties and general game management issues.
Now we are recruiting better QB's (and more of them) and the game management issues are largely gone. Last year we had a weaker running back crew than normal, but we add 2 studs and I like what the returning backs can offer.

Was there more to the interview? If not, once again the Baton Rouge media gives Alleva softball questions.
