JJ's Comments on being the starter
Posted by BGSB on 10/6/11 at 10:51 am10
quote:
Jefferson said it was a "personal goal" of his to reclaim the starting job. "I am going to do whatever it takes to get there,"
Does anyone else see this as a self-centered comment? Why not let actions speak for him?
I think hes a very talented player and can help this team tremendously, but I think a humble player might Have said " I'll play whatever role I'm assinged to help this team win, whether it be from the sidelines or on the field"
Ill take my licks if I'm wrong, his comments just don't sit well with me. Your thoughts?

There's no "i" in team, but there sure is a "me."

I would hope that his goals were to be the starter. Its the way his mindset should be. He should also say he will do whatever it takes to help his team win, but I have no problem with him wanting to compete for the starting job.

while I do believe he has a chip on his shoulder (by virtue of circumstanes), it should be every player's goal to start. Still, the public wording could be a bit more judicous.

Don't we want competition? This assumption is beyond moronic. No players should have a "set I'm stone" position. If it were up to me we would have open positions each week.

I think I know what you mean, but I would take it as a humble player would have said "I will work as hard as I can to be the best player I can to help my team win, whether that be from becoming the starter again or playing a role in certain packages."

+1
Do your research and find the full quotes. This is why a large % of our fanbase is dumb.
Q: Is it important to you to be the starting quarterback again?
A: “It’s a personal goal of mine. It’s very important to me and I would do whatever it takes to get to that situation but as of right now it’s for what’s best for the team.”
Q: You can live with being a backup the rest of the year, the second option?
A: “Whatever is best for the team, that’s what I’m going to do.”

hope he doesn't go all tonya Harding on him.lol
I think people are reading into everything he says because they don't like him. If Lee had said this prior to this year, everybody would talk about his resolve as a person, and how great it is to have a kid like that on the team. blah blah blah.
How does it make JJ feel to know that Miles said Mett is his #2 QB after Lee?
Rosetta asked him last night in what he thought was off-the-record. But a news station ran the video, so he went ahead and ran with it as well.
Better yet, how should it make us all feel after this whole booing brou-ha-ha?
I for one feel more confident that Miles isn't going to force the crappy peg into the round hole if Lee struggles or is injured.
