Not that I believe, but if so, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn at least once every 30 f'ing years.

He calls baseball and basketball well.
Football, not so much. Obviously arithmetic was a difficult subject for him in grade school.

Is it tough to hear with your lips wrapped around his bunghole?

Yeah it was awesome when he said

LSU is the only team in the league that plays their Saturday night games at night

I don't listen to football or basketball thankfully, but he is terrible at baseball.

I think his eyesight must be failing. He wavers back and forth like he can't see what is happening. Out/safe. Complete/Incomplete. Whatever. That being said, here in Houston I will listen to him on WWL and turn down the TV volume every time.

Basketball season before last, we beat Miss State on the road by two points. They had an inbound at mid-court with 12 or 15 seconds left with a chance to tie or win. Hawthorne called the inbounds, then there was 15 seconds of dead air, then he said "Tigers Win!' like a jackass on command.
Football is his best sport, and that isn't saying shite.

I do the same thing...WWL is strong here on the Texas coast and always prefer listening to Jim over any of the other options. I thought he called a great game tonight. The voice of the Tigers indeed!

"Hanover lays down the bunt and it's a good one...they're going to let it roll foul, and it's not a good one."
Honest Injun, I'm quoting him almost verbatim from tonight's broadcast.

Okay, I just don't have enough samples to make a fair comparison b/c I generally try to avoid listening to the game on the radio.
The last game I heard Hawthorne call was LSU vs. Arkansas a couple of years ago. I was forced to listen on the radio b/c I was driving from LA to GA during the game.
Hawthorne, "Ware up the middle for a quick 9 yards". That's a 1st and 10 play. 20 seconds later, "LSU 2nd and 5 at the Arkansas..."
