They cover LSU, ULL, the Saints, and the Astros. Just like a louisiana sports radio station should.

I’ve been listening for years and I swear I’ve never heard them talk Astros until their World Series run last year.

But certainly there is a market here for it.

If that market were going to make Guaranty Broadcasting bigger profits then it would already be being heard in Lafayette....it's not so I'm guessing the market isn't very profitable.

Part of the reason for that could be because the programming sucks. I'm surprised Guaranty hasn't researched distancing themselves from ESPN especially in the current political climate and how ESPN has positioned themselves (and maybe they have).

They started discussing broadcasting rights with the Stros at least 5 years ago....it takes time for those things to materialize. I'm pretty sure they reported on the Stros prior to last year though.

Ok I gotcha so it’s definitely new? Like within the last 2 or 3 seasons?

He was appearing on Dave Schultz show sports chat. He lives and works in Baton Rouge, I believe.

Here is a link to info about him if you’re interested. https://muckrack.com/jeff-palermo

If we win on a last second field goal or some fluky hail mary play, call that luck. Georgia never had a chance in this game! We caused 4 turnovers and their defense never stopped us. If we put the ball in the end zone a couple more times instead of 5 field goals, it looks even worse.

Now if you want to say that the ESPN 1420 are anti LSU, you'd have more of an argument there.

A STRONG argument. But it seems they are more anti LSU-fan than anti LSU.

yes, the new SW LA affiliate for Astros games is KLWB (Delta Media - 103.7). IIRC, Astros games used to be carried on KPEL (Townsquare Media - 96.5) until 2015 ?? 103.7 The Game has always talked MLB even when the Astros sucked from 2010-2014. You started hearing more chatter in 2015 when Bregman was drafted. 2 yrs ago 103.7 started giving away weekend game tickets as part of the ClubHouse Reward contest

The LSU QB then, (Mauck) was from Indiana. The current one is from Ohio.

Ya think maybe we should recruit more QB's (And OL's) from up there?

Haven’t listened to Bo in a while. Tends to repeat himself over and over and over and over. You get the point.

Yes it is new-ish....it was one of the things they worked out when they kind of reformatted to be something that was actually worth something and started investing in on air talent (as much as you can with local) and producing.

you should listen to Bo Bounds

Or not

I occasionally turn it on after LSU gets a big win to see what he has to say.

Regarding O he keeps moving the line. He initially said O wouldn’t last the season and certainly wouldn’t win more than 6 games. Then he said they may win 8 games but wouldn’t make the playoffs. This morning he said there is no way O is a national championship coach. Dude is just a troll. His new little apprentices are tough to listen to as well. I think Mississippi State fans are the only ones that can tolerate his show.

Seeing that most folks in south La are Astros fans especially now, I don’t see why there isn’t more Astros stuff in stores and in Louisiana media.

Like academy should have a small Astros section right next to the pelicans section for example. People like the stros more than Pels around here.

The Rangers dominate the Oklahoma and probably the Shreveport media as far as pro baseball goes. I don’t see why the Astros can’t be the same for South LA especially SWLA

Pretty sad as that was not Georgia giving anything away or the Tigers getting lucky. Mark Packer said on ESPNU Radio this afternoon that LSU took Georgia to the woodshed from start to finish. He is correct!

While I had five people downvote me, not one of you are satisfied with ESPN 104-5’s signal strength.

yes indeed...he flat hates coach O!

On the other hand, John Weiner (sp?) smooched on LSU for what seemed like an hour on his show this afternoon.

I don’t know about the rest of Oklahoma, but Tulsa has really adopted the Astros, what with the Dallas Keuchel/Steve Sparks connection.

Also, Shreveport has really adopted the Stros too, adding KWKH 1130AM to the Houston Astros Radio Network. KWKH can be heard across the south and Midwest states at night.
