Of course not. Any talk about firing anyone is dumb.

Not really. Because most people knew we should still win the regional regardless. The issue is that you didn’t really improve your chances of beating Tulane while you greatly lowered your chances of winning game 2 vs OSU or SH. It’s about winning two games. Because 1-1 in those first two game with the winning coming first or second gets you in the exact same position. So there really isn’t any advantage to throwing Skenes game 1. None. The advantage comes from throwing him game 2. It’s analytical. Jay felt game 1 was more important. Idk why. It’s a preference for him. I disagree and most do. Most of the best coaches do it differently. Do the fans who agree with them become idiots for saying so?

actually agree with this

But ain’t nobody pretending like it was done intentionally

Just cause the result is positive doesn’t mean you can act like that was the motive

Jesus Christ. I didn’t say that. There are often times in baseball where a coach goes against the statistical suggestion. He did it here. That’s not some big revelation.

The assumption has been the ENTIRE time that it was a horrible decision. The implication is not hard to arrive at.

You can actually bend the narrative either way you feel like arguing due to the outcome and the weather

But just because you drive home drunk and make it home doesn’t make it a hood decision

No but most argued Jay made a process decision and regardless of the end results there was logic behind it. So when it worked out you can’t say well because things actually broke his way it was lucky.

People use lots of hyperbole when arguing. Are you new to debates?

No but this is certainly a new strawman. Hiding behind "hyperbole"

No one has yet been able to adequately explain the process or results that would lead to this decision given the expectation of no delays.

I would have expected Skenes game two of this regional BUT it is clear Oregon State is a fastball hitting team. Did Jay know that? Maybe. But the off speed pitches really seem to be the weakness for OSU.

What if Hurd goes out against Tulane and gives a similar performance? Aren’t we in the exact same spot?

No. Our ace doesn’t get the same rest for game 1 of the Super.

With the benefit of hindsight it was the only move to make. We got the most possible innings out of our guys.

He did his Job! It’s not like he’s a freshman with 3 innings all year.

Not so much lucky, it just didn’t really matter in the end. It didn’t help or hurt. But you saw where the game was trending before the rain delay. Ore St is too good to not save Skenes. And Tulane was too bad of a team to waste him
