This is my issue with the targeting call. No one really knows what it is because of the inconsistency in how it is applied. When I saw it on replay I thought for sure they were going to call it targeting because the helmet made contact first. You layer in the defenseless vs non defenseless vs if their a qb or not and it gets even more convoluted. Definitely an area that needs more defined definitions that everyone is clear on.

Very nice hit. Too bad Saban doesn’t like football anymore

One of the best hits I’ve seen in a long time. You don’t see hard hits like that anymore. It’s been a few years at least

You think the timeout after that hit was because he took it well? . It was about third and five. The qb was so slewed he either wasn't understanding or they had to call a run play because he couldn't feel his shoulder. Pay attention to how many runs are called the play after qbs get lit up.

Didn't think it was targeting live. Didn't think it was targeting on replay. Was absolutely shocked that they didn't call it targeting, though. That's the kind of thing we're used to in this series. I think the keys were that Young was a runner, not a defenseless player, and was not giving himself up via slide, as well as the fact that Ward hit shoulder to shoulder. Young just isn't a big dude, so it looked like a crazy hit. Good stuff from Ward. Loved the fire.

I've had it playing on loop on my second monitor since I've been up. fricking sucks we didn't finish it off but that hit makes me want to punch a bama fan in the face.

Right. Targeting requires defenseless player (he was not; he was a runner) and forcible contact the head/neck area (hit was shoulder to shoulder). Really hard, clean hit.

I knocked my drink when he pooped their QB. That’s classic LSU defense right there.

He did not lead with his head, in fact he turned away from Young and led with his shoulder...a superb hit!!!

I love the high step that he takes after getting up from the contact

Saban thinks it's finesse ball instead of football.

Poor little fellow. Wait until Kirby’s players take his head off his shoulders. The little fellow should be scared sh*tless just thinking about the upcoming game against Jawja. Geaux fighting tigers

I would have turned the game off. I was already tired.
