per CEO on OTB

ETA: It was meniscus surgery and not MCL. Listening to T Bob was my first mistake

I knew about him and he posted was wasn’t playing Friday night. That went out the window when Stingley was out for the game.

He gets a pass in my book, takes some balls to play after that.

Hope he gets better though

Yeah, the guy was seriously injured and couldn’t practice for two weeks prior to the procedure. He freaking stepped up and did what he could even though he was out of condition and lacked a full camp of practice reps.

It wasn’t MCL. It was meniscus. Knee scope

Yeah, Jordy’s listening comprehension skills are extremely poor

This has been beaten to death so much. They played a lot of zone match and combo coverage.

This. So much for knowing your players and their abilities. Sounds a lot like Miles' offense.

This makes it so much more baffling we didn't play a zone defense.

Can’t play zone with a DB in Evans that been on campus for two weeks & Ward been out of practice for about the same amount of time. Y’all sound so dumb repeating that bs

They played some. That said, NO ONE anticipated losing Stingley literally the night before the game. He alone probably dissuades MSU from going to one player every single play before the ball is even snapped. Thus, I suspect LSU practiced man-to-man all week for a team whose overall defensive philosophy is man. If you didn't practice zone much at all during the week then you can't just hurriedly throw it out there on gameday. It would have been a bigger mess of missed assignments.

Stingley out meant the DB shuffle had to begin. Flott, who practiced at Nickle all week had to move to the boundary. Ward had to suit up and give it a go even though he was hurt and had not practiced. Evans wasn't supposed to play that much.

Perfect storm of: 1. a great offensive mind (Leach) with ZERO MSU film to watch; 2. Experienced, talented, QB; 3. LSU unexpectedly losing its AA CB the night before the game; 4. Inexperienced and hurt DB's having to carry the load; 5. Interior DL that isn't built to rush the passer just yet.

Now, if you want to fault the coaches for not having a contingency plan for if Stingley went down, ok. It's not like even he had played he couldn't have been hurt on the very first play.

Stingley’s dad confirms this. He said on OTB that Ward wasn’t going to dress until Stingley was out.

Bo didn’t even try to drop a LB to cut off the crossing routes. Stop defending that shite show.

What the frick was one LB gonna do when you literally only have 2 corners available for the entire game? Okay, lets say one crossing route gets closed off, your corners are still gassed and completely out of position because you only have 2 viable players at that position. Remember you are going against a 5 wide >80% passing team. With literally 20 players below the scholarship limit due to the draft and opt outs. Not to mention 2 of your four corners were not ready to play. One wasn't cleared to play due to surgery, the kid literally wasn't even supposed to dress out. The other has been on campus and cleared to practice for less than two weeks, do you honestly believe Darren Evans had any chance to learn our playbook and the complex zone coverages that require strong communication and knowledge of responsibility and coverage dump off with his other teamates?!?!?!? The kid probably doesn't even know his coaches names yet, let alone his zone schemes... of course that were gonna play mostly man and ultra simple zone schemes. We needed 4-6 DB sets every play, and only had 2-3 players capable of manning up to their corner. Stevens is okay in man, cox is decent in man, but Harris is more of a zone safety. What the frick were we gonna play? We only had the players to play cover 1 man or cover 2 occasionally, which we fricking did and got slaughtered after the first quarter when our 2 DBs were gassed....
