Jay says Skenes was begging to pitch the 9th inning.

And Jay said "absolutely not." That is an interesting fact. I'm glad I listened to the post game press conference.

Can you imagine if his arm “popped” like Garrett Edwards’ did in an 18-4 game? Jay protecting his guy.

It is the right decision there was a tiny tiny tiny risk of injury. There was no advantage to pitching him. I think I could have gotten an out prior to giving up 14.

Probably was more to make sure he wasn’t on the bottom of a dog pile than actually throwing pitches

Jay obviously didnt read the rant yesterday. Skenes starting was the easiest decision since wearing shorts to the beach.

Yep, Skenes has a brighter future than LSU. Good luck to him. Thanks for coming here

I selfishly just wanted to hear and see the lid blow off the stadium when Skenes walked out the pen.

Man. I was there. If he would have let Guidry get 2 outs and ran Sweeney out for last out. That place would have erupted.

Guidry is the closer. He deserved his moment.

Would have loved to see him pitch but I'm glad we didn't need him. But would have been great for him to get the final out since he is the one who got us here but love that Jay wasn't going to risk him to injury.

He was 100% going in the game by the 8th inning if it was that close.

So Guidry is the closer?? Kind of interesting to say that with Riley Cooper getting all three saves in Omaha.

Skenes deserved the right to finish that game on the mound.

AND, Jay was absolutely right to not allow him to do it.

So, the storybook ending was a tiny bit less than perfect. And, Jobert didn't make the HR robbing catch either.

But, alas, Skenes having to live with his two 120+ monster performances to carry this team to the finals isn't the worst fate. And Jobert did even better with that last swing, smile, and pose.

I think it was the 6th inning but I recall base runners move up to second and third. Skenes slung his water bottle because he knew his chances of getting in were dropping.

All the sweeter that we didn’t need him.
