So Guidry is the closer??

Arguably. Earning saves has nothing to do with being the closer. Cooper is routinely brought in for late relief in the 6th or 7th innings. He often even finished the game but a closer is usually highly effective in pitching one inning and Guidry filled that role more than Cooper. It's probably true that LSU didn't have a designated closer but Guidry fit the role more than Cooper. Anyway the point is, I'm glad the bullpen was allowed to close out the game. Better?

There was ZERO reason for him to play. That's a great thing.

Guidry

His reaction of getting the last out of the Championship said all you need to know about that dog.

I was glad to hear Jay say that in the press conference because I wanted so badly for him to pitch the end of that game since he deserved the stage. Glad the competitor in him wanted it. CJJ said if it got within 5 runs then Skenes would’ve come in but understand him not putting him in when there was zero need to.

Amazing coach. He was spot on in the PC when he said he didn’t want to start Skenes and take him out after 30 pitches and give Florida a momentum boost. I had the exact same thought wanting Skenes to come in during relief yesterday rather than starting.

I would worry more about the dogpile than him actually throwing or an inning.

Imagine him getting hurt in the post game dogpile.

I think it was the 6th inning but I recall base runners move up to second and third. Skenes slung his water bottle because he knew his chances of getting in were dropping.

Lol at skenes getting irritated that we are doing too well. If he had gone out it would have been just perfunctory and an unnecessary risk for a guy about to be a top 3 pick.
