Very glad to see a date given. The mystery surrounding this had me worried we may never see him back. Hopefully, no setbacks and he is ready for a run down the stretch.

quote:

"There is a chance for Auburn. We tried to set a timetable for that," Johnson said Tuesday. "He's got to clear some benchmarks for that."

I mean Jay has said for weeks that he would be pitching soon and it keeps getting pushed back.

I love Jay as much as the next guy, but his injury updates are horrible. I'm not knocking him for that, but when he gives a date just take it with a grain of salt.

Very close to the vest.

Felt specific enough to think they may be aiming here. The past couple weeks has been VERY vague. Maybe I am being hopeful.

At that age any back injury that keeps you out for months would have to be extremely serious lol " benchmarks" lol

This is the 3rd time this year that he has given a specific series that they are hopeful for a return. I wouldn't put much into it.

As someone who has had lower back issues it can feel fine today and tomorrow may be walking with a walker. Set backs are common. A herniated disc takes time to heal. He has had a cortisone injection from some reports. Those don’t always work.

You’re an idiot. Anyone can have back issues, especially someone who deals with repetitive motions that can torque and put strain on joints and muscles.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Back injuries do not discriminate. All it takes is one herniated disc pressing against a nerve the wrong way and you won't be able to get out of bed. When you do get out of bed, you won't be able to bend your back at all. When you do bend your back, you will have pain and numbness shooting down your arm.

You can tweak a non-healed back injury extremely easy. There is no point in rushing him out there for 2 innings for him to then miss the remainder of the season and need a fusion or something more dramatic.

Typical take from you. In high school I had a teammate who, at 17, had a back issue that prevented him from swinging the bat at all. One of our best players and basically missed the entire season because of it.

Josh smith, at 19, missed basically the entire season in 2018.

Followed by: "We hope to have him back for Alabama" and then "We expect him back for the Tennessee series"

You'll know which SEC series he's coming back for bc he'll pitch in the midweek game before it.

I had a double disc fusion at 16. People get back injuries at all ages.

how stupid are you? you do realize he has to miss time in HS and after his freshman season with back issue right?

you might want to research Spondylolysis and Spondylolisthesis that are extremely common in baseball, especially in youth players due to less muscle mass before running your mouth about "He's 20 something years old lol - it's not a back issue" because you sound like a dumbass
