Jay Johnson Roster Management

His roster insane. He had three catchers all catch within 20 and 24 games. All pitchers contributed to a national championship. Almost all infielders and outfielders got in and played decent innings. In an era of transfer portal I think he handles it perfectly. On top of that all the catchers return which is pretty impressive.

The catching rotation last year is a case study in everything that is great about team sports. Keep working hard, be ready when called upon, support your teammates when you are not playing. Incredible.

Some of the rotation was made necessary by injury, but kudos to the players for being ready when called upon.

Imagine having your whole life to choose your primary user handle and your pea brain can only lump three letters together. You should have chosen BAW, baw.

Are you implying there is no excuse for not repeating?

He is super impressive. Glad we have him.

Couldn't imagine having a 9 year break in posting then login and start talking shite every post and accusing others of being an alter.

How much of it is it Jay Johnson vs LSU? It’s similar to Kansas Basketball or Alabama Football (when they had Saban). If you’re getting good playing time at these programs, you don’t transfer. Where the hell are you gonna go to better your situation?

It's both. JJ is driven, dedicated, organized, motivated enough to put in the work to make sure LSU has the best of the best.
I'm far from a Mainieri hater, but I would not have wanted to have to see him manage our roster, plus sign freshman, plus try to juggle the transfer portal.

No doubt that LSU is the best place in general, but some kids don't think that way about their situation. For example, Frey, Jones, and Guidry aren't playing at what may be their preferred position. This is where Jay Johnson comes in and gets them to buy into the team aspect.

Between the portal and HS class, he had arguably the greatest recruiting haul of all time. That helps a good bit in roster management
I’m excited to see where we finish with this recruiting class. It’s probably more loaded than the 2022 class.
