We’ll see how this one plays out. Really was expecting a higher profile hire than him. Gonna be extremely interesting to see how he does with recruiting down here...

If he can get a good pitching coach, we will dominate.

Yeskie might get the head coaching job at AZ now that JJ has left

Down here? LSU recruits nationally and rarely has a fight for instate talent.

If anything you need a guy who recruits places that aren’t “down here” better. Run down a list of LSU’s best players over the last few years and the ones that didn’t come from LA aren’t from the Deep South.

The regional recruiting issue people are making up is so dumb. This guy will recruit anywhere. Baseball isn’t football, the culture in Arizona is not much different and he’s an elite recruiter. Probably his best quality.

I said I would be happy with anyone besides Bianco and I am. He's a good coach.

The guy was coaching in Omaha for the second time in his 7 year career as a D1 coach less than 72 hours ago.

O’Sullivan was a done deal until his personal life got in the way.

Corbin was never happening.

Johnson is as good as you’re going to get from that second group of guys. If he makes a good pitching hire, his LSU teams are going to be a problem. He’ll have one of the best offenses in the country annually.

The people complaining about the hire are the same ones that complain about every hire. They don’t know any other way.

He’s been .500 in conference play before this year and the rant is pumped.

We instead could have had 3x National Champion Pat Casey but the rant found their moral compass for once.

We could have also had KOS but he struggled a bit this year so nah.

Congrats on Dave Serrano part deux. This is a disaster.

I think it's a homerun hire if he can get a good pitching coach. That's what will define him imo.

LSU baseball recruits nationally. Yes, we get some in-state guys, too. But those guys WANT to come to LSU and connections are made during baseball camps. I'm not concerned about recruiting based on region.

I’m just happy that he has name that even the morons on the rant can spell. No more marinara jokes.

This board would say the Nick Saban hire was questionable.

His record at Michigan State:

6-5-1
6-6
7-5
6-6
9-2

He won more than 7 games one time. This board would have lost its mind if it was around at the time. Was he a good hire? I'll hang up and listen.......

Johnson has consistently done more with less. Vitello has all the markings of a 1 hit wonder. Godwin was my #1 but this hire is far from questionable.

Also, if Vitello was hired, most of you would now start bitching about how much his contract is worth or his buyout or whatever. The Sunday morning QBs on this board cannot be pleased. Can we just wait at least 1 season to start second guessing this hire?
