Serious questions here...but didn’t the rant hate James Williams and now we are all about him. How did he end up in the mix as a good guy in this situation? Did everyone not say he was part of the CWW suspension? Did we jump to conclusions? I mean there were post showing him defending people that probably shouldn’t have had good legal represenation... Him and Lipsey work on this together or do you think they came to an understanding and helped each other out?

What’s the difference between working together and helping each other out?

Personally, I think he was part of the problem with FQA and the kneejerking early on in the Yahoo reports, then the backlash caught him off guard. He reassessed, decided Alleva indeed had to go, and was one of the key players to push for Woodward.

But, who knows. Everyone at this point wants Alleva (and FQA) to be the fall guys and move on.

There were posters on here posting that JW was leading the charge against WW. In retrospect, those posters were clearly providing misinformation here in an attempt to protect the former AD and the lame duck university president.

Lipsey and Williams are now legends in Louisiana lore

As I stated in another thread, I don't think anyone's really deserving of credit for this hire, in and of itself. It's clear that Woodward wanted to be back home. The people who made this happen, indirectly, are all who put pressure on Alexander and the BOS to make a change, which opened the door for Woodward.

I think Richard Lipsey, of all people, is well aware of this, but he's trying to be diplomatic in giving credit to James Williams, sort of as a "nudge" to tell him "see, keep making common sense decisions, and things will go much smoother for you and the entire board".

Lipsey, himself, deserves far more credit than anyone at LSU, IMO.

I think Williams was probably integral in the suspension of Wade, but also integral in the hiring of Woodward. I do think it was sort of ridiculous how people jumped to the conclusion that he had identitarian motives in all of this. Notwithstanding his political affiliations, that was poor form and an example of how mob mentality can get out of hand. Kudos to him for staying quiet and calculating the best move for LSU, which is his job.

I agree all in all I think he figured out what was best for LSU. A lot of stuff circulating at that time about who was responsible for suspensions and investigations. Glad it all worked out. Just glad this didn’t turn into a nepotism thing as in JW getting them to hire wades assistant as head coach. All things worked out.

Hope he goes after FKA now.

Richard Lipsey said when he went public that everyone that mattered was resisting change and that is why he went public a few weeks back.
You can speculate all you want but a guy with his money and position does not go public unless things are a mess and no one will listen to reason.
If he does not go public King with JBE's blessing were going to keep Aleva. They controlled JA and did not want to give that up even if it damaged LSU.
Lipsey said no, not gonna let this continue and went public.

Remember when you claimed Richard Lipsey was just using the will wade situation to grandstand and “throw shade” at people? Good times.

Lester Earl has developed a devils advocate/contrarian attitude lately. Something happened to that guy.

there were people here insisting that because James is black, he had a motive to want a black coach

and then when it was announced he was a huge reason we got woodford and wade reinstated, those people crawfished.

Solo Cam doesn’t like him because he’s black, wears an earring and sues cops. Other than that he’s good for now.

Yes.
Williams' name got leaked as being chiefly responsible for the kneejerk WW suspension. Given the leaks, he got predictably tarred as a result.

Whether or not the leaks were accurate, Williams undoubtedly did not appreciate his name and reputation getting trashed. Judging by the swiftness of action in dismissing the AD, it is a fair bet he sourced leaks to Alleva.

Regardless, several sources do now place him at ground zero in the AD changeover. So kudos to James Williams for his role in that change, and to the deftness with which it was handled.
