As for his work effort. I agree. He doesn't work hard at all, but that doesn't make him stupid.
Yes it does. In a profession where you are paid for on the field performance, you would be an idiot to assume that you can put in zero effort and continue to be on a roster.

He actually is pretty bright. Jimbo Fisher has been quoted multiple times that he is the smartest QB at reading defenses he has coached. I think he just hasnt put in the work he needed to at the NFL level to be successful. No matter what he will always be my favorite LSU QB to watch by far.

I've read this entire preceding thread and didn't see any racist vibes at all.

No doubt Oakland isn't an ideal setting for anyone. But even there JaMarcus could have developed a reputation as a competitor.

Most of the sentiment expressed here IMO is just disappointment that one of our greats hasn't done well in the NFL.

Jamarcus showed his lazy streak while he was still here. If someone is to blame it's the recruiters that bought into the physical stats and thought that was enough to create an NFL QB out of. It's not all about their size and strength and how they throw the ball. If they're lazy, they're still going to be lazy in the pros. Probably lazier since now they're a millionaire.

Wrong. Kid made his money and is an horrible situation. He may be lazy and not deserve it, but he was smart enough to get paid.

In the end, you just want to call him stupid to make yourself feel better, but he's just lazy. Doesn't mean shite about his intelligence.

Again, when you are paid to perform and produce on a consistent basis, having zero work ethic and refusing to put in the effort to improve is stupid and unintelligent.

Doubtful. He has a lot more potential than most backups in the NFL. I'm sure someone would be willing to take a chance on a guy with Jamarcus' talent.

Well if that's all he cares about, then he just needs to GTFO of football all together. He's got his money. Go be a bum in Alabama and quit wasting people's time! I was a HUGE Jamarcus fan at LSU. I thought he was one of the greatest QBs LSU has ever had and I expected more from him in the NFL. I'm just really disappointed that he is such a lazy POS when he has soo much talent. It's just a waste. How many people would kill to have half his talent.

Holy crap. It's a done deal. Poor Jamarcus.

Saying this hurts future LSU QB's trying to get drafted is ridiculous. Each one will be judged by his own individual talents & performances. But this made me think back to former LSU QB's in the pro's--who was the best? Y.A. Title, Bert Jones, any others any one recalls?

I think the raiders make more of a difference than most people think

compare Jamarcus Russell's rookie year (2008) and Mark Sanchez's rookie year (2009)

JR: 198/368 53.8% 2423 Yards, 13 TD, 8 INT
MS: 196/364 53.8% 2444 Yards, 12 TD, 20 INT

why isn't sanchez's career over after next season? because he doesn't have to carry the team

Do you not remember JR scrambling at the end of the 1st half against Tennessee and running the clock out instead of stopping the clock with a pass because we were IN FIELD GOAL RANGE?

I also remember similar stupidity by Jefferson last year against Ole Miss. It's coaching issues as much as it is the QB being ignorant.

I always said JR should not leave early and that he wasn't ready, but millions of dollars being waved in front of someone is hard to resist.

just think if Drew made Jamarcus' light come on. Russell has about 190x's the ability of Chase Daniel. If someone brought the mental aspect out of Russell he'd be amazing
