Serious question, does failed drug test still have a bearing in the draft?

Remember guys 19-20yo sophmore jamar chase played as good if not better than 21-22yo SENIOR Devonta smith. Smith had 2 more years of coaching and training than chase did at the time of their final seasons. Chase as a sophmore is 100x better than smith as a sophmore. Does that mean chase would have gotten significantly better than he was in two more years with the program? Not necessarily, but it does look favorable towards chase of getting picked first we overall vs an older smith.

They are NOT equal in talent! The film doesn’t lie, Chase is a much better prospect. Your feelings don’t matter.

Lol everybody in their feelings Smith and Chase were in completely different situations coming into this season one guy just had one of the best seasons for a WR in ncaa history as was a projected top 5 pick with nothing to gain this year. The other had already decided to return for his senior year to raise his stock( which he did) but don’t you think it would be weird if Smith came back just to sit out the season it wouldn’t make sense.

Y’all are fcking ridiculous. If I were in Chase position I would’ve done the same. He don’t owe y’all sh*t, y’all don’t pay his bills or sign his checks and he brought back a championship. Ungrateful @$$ fans.

And as for the question, Chase hands down. Devonta had a nice season in a down year. Chase demolished top end defensive backs all year and in different ways. Devonta stats don’t even compare and that’s against less talented opponents.

Chase can do everything Smith can

Smith can’t say the same

Smith is a 1yr 6mo older

Totally agree I think Chase is one of better WR prospects to come out in the past couple of years

Jerry Jeudy had basically the same soph year as Chase, Biletnikoff, AA, had a really good year as a Jr was projected as a top 5-10 pick all year. Some scouts called him the best route runner they'd ever seen and he winds up being the 2nd Bama WR drafted.

NO ONE knows what will happen in the draft, it all depends on what teams think what

Chase is more of an NFL type receiver in how he plays. Trying to be unbiased here but I believe he will go before Smith. The quitting thing and a year off is no doubt something to think about, but I don’t see Smith first.

I don't know if it does or not because some failed tests don't get publicized and can be handled internally.

Now, serious question, who is failing drug tests?

This. Ruggs was an athletic freak that had that jump out in evaluations and the combine. Scouts and teams continue to value measurables as much or more than on field production.

That said, Chase wins the measurables and is at least on par with some of the best WRs taken in last couple of years in terms of skillset. He will be #1 WR taken.

Smith likely wins some of the leadership and team player intangibles, but, it is clear that most clubs don't preference that near as high when all other things are considered.

Both extraordinary talents. Would have loved to see Chase play this year, a truly gifted athlete.
