Too big of a deal? One of our starters punched a woman in the mouth. I don't care about circumstances or reduced sentences. Shouldn't be allowed to represent lsu anymore.

I used to intern in a place where I had a hand in processing criminal complaints. It's amazing the different stories you can get out of the same set of facts. I was constantly amazed how people can insist that scenario A happened when there is video evidence showing the opposite.
The scenario could have easily been: girl comes to apartment, refuses to leave after multiple requests. JM goes out to confront her and makes a motion like he is going to hit her, but doesn't actually. Girl, reacting to the pseudo punch, trips and hurts herself. Accuses JM of hitting her.
JM, pissed that he didn't actually do anything, ignore police requests because he knows he is innocent. While a bonehead move, I've seen quite a few people use the same logic.
Of course, he could also be guilty, guilty, guilty.
I'll wait until we get more info.

Do we even want someone on our team that hit a woman in the face? What type of example is that for the incoming freshmen class?

Yea man. frick all that innocent until proven guilty due process shite.. Let's not wait for the facts and overreact in the moment.
He's indefinitely suspended and that is the right call at this point.

There might be a few missing pieces to the story but I still believe it ends with Mills punching a female in the mouth.

Everything hinges on if this gets reduced to a misdemeanor. With a felony he's gone, with a misdemeanor he misses several games.
Yea because hill missed several games with his misdemeanor

If I did NOT hit a woman in the mouth, but was accused of doing so, I would damn sure show up to meet with police and clear my name.

You're overreacting Adam
He didn't kill anyone

I bet she's either fat, ugly or pregnant. ..or all 3.
That story is a lie. He's stupid for not taking cops call AND punching anybody.
Suspension?

The fact they have enough info for an arrest based on statements by witnesses and the victim. Combined with Mills dodging detectives.
Also the fact that these situations usually end up with the athlete being guilty.

He was charged with punching a woman
FIFY.
You people need to pump the damn brakes. Ya'll are so quick to accept a very scant police report as a 100% accurate representation of the facts. All we have is a very obviously edited story by the girl. Mills didn't do himself any favors by missing the meeting and phone calls, but we've yet to hear the whole story.
Not proclaiming his innocence, but considering he had no prior record, was a somewhat leader on the team, and the way this story is told, I'm a little skeptical. Nothing in that story explains what incentive a kid might have to punch a girl for no reason and destroy his future. Maybe he did it and he should be off the team, but there's some important details forthcoming.

people are over reacting. This isn't hard, suspend him like we did and let the legal system play out. If the charges get dropped he comes back missing no time, if they get lowered then sit him until the game before the auburn game.

I guess. Put me in the minority then. I'm just not the kind of guy that can be supportive of anyone that hit a woman under any circumstance. I Damn well wouldn't support the decision to keep him on the team if he's found guilty.
I still just don't understand how anyone could just take a chance like that with your career

Based on a corroborated witness saying Mills split the girl's lip. Based on the fact that he dodged police. Based on the fact that he's been suspended.
